Whether you are a Dr. Seuss and Lassie fan or not, this movie is worth watching. The late Tom Rettig (Lassie TV show) stars as the main character of focus in this picture. Ted "Seuss" Geisel was involved with the production as well. This is a collector's DVD to have if you love the classic movies of the past.

I happened upon this movie as I was switching channels back in the late 60's when I was around 8 years old. I thought it was the best movie I'd ever seen up until that point because it was about a boy, roughly my age, and in my opinion it was better than that that "girl" movie, called The Wizard Of Oz, and I compared the two, especially since the endings were somewhat similar. The songs were all catchy, and the story-line kept me glued to the couch. The Dungeon Elevator song has stuck in my head all these years but for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of the movie. As the years went on, I would often try and explain the movie to my friends, but no one knew of it. Thanks to Google, a few years back I was able to find the name of it, even though I'm still sure back then, it was called "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. Terwilliker" and not, "Dr. T". When I received it in the mail, my kids were with me and they could tell I was happy to finally have it in my hands because I had told them the story of this movie countless times. We watched it together and although they liked some parts, they weren't as thrilled about it as I was at the age of 8, but then again, if I had exciting movies such as Spiderman & Fantastic Four to watch along with all the video games to play at that age, maybe I would have felt the same way. (we had a black & white TV and I didn't even know this movie was in color until I put in the DVD....that was an added bonus) For me, it took me back to being a kid again, sitting on couch, mesmerized to what was going to happen once Bart & Mr. Zabladowski made their bottle of "MusicFix". Watching it again after all these years, it didn't live up to my memory of it, but I was, and still am, happy to finally own a copy of it and I'm sure every few years I'll watch it again, in order to take me back to the simpler times in my life. Bottom line, is if you have young kids, and especially young boys, this is a good classic movie to own.Read full review
I saw this movie in a theater when it first came out and today it fascinates me still. it's a great fantasy with actors Tommy Rettig (Lassie's master), Peter Lind Hayes and Mary Healy, Hans Corned, Henry "Bomber " Kulky (Otto Schmidlapp from The Life of Riley). the story line is engaging and the special effects are wonderful. It's a great film for kids (and adults as well).

Well now let's see...skating evil identical twins entwined to each other by their beards, a VERY atomic bottle of airwick, a plumber named Zabladowski, excellent cigars, Vintage Pickle Juice, a slightly maniacal piano teacher...what's not to like about one of the oddest, funniest movies you might ever see? And Bart's mom is hotter than June Cleaver could ever hope to be...The DVD itself is flawless, the sound is great, picture quality is fine, just fine... A real classic from my own distant childhood, not for everyone perhaps, but so good on so many levels.
great music and performances
