The best of the best. Portability without sacrificing quality. The MGB-001 is one of Nintendo's greatest inventions. The sole issue is that they did not update it with a backlit color screen. However if you're handy with waay too much spare time you can use an old GBA:SP and "update" the MGB-001 with same said feature, the sole issue then becoming the lack of durability of the screen. You really can throw these across a room, or drop them down a long flight of concrete stairs, pick them up and continue playing on them. Game will probably freeze, but compared to the gba:sp or any DS system (which would utterly shatter) I think a frozen game (power off then back on to fix) is the least of your worries. Alternately you could backlight and bivert the MGB-001.. I hear nonfinite electronics will even do that for you for relatively cheap. Congratulations on your purchase or if you haven't bought this yet, BUY IT!!! xDRead full review
As with any Gameboy Color this is a great handheld but with a nice color scheme and Pokémon theme. Not a big Pokémon fan myself and I love the look but I bought it as a gift for someone who is a fan and they love it even more. We both have multiple GBCs and this is both our favorite. The only real negative as with most handhelds of this era is screen visibility, unless you are in a tanning bed you may have to move around or angle the screen to see well. The positives are many but include: Nice form and fit Nice graphics for the time and platform Good battery life Durable Good sound Backwards compatible with GB And most importantly... the games. There were around 500 games made, but with backwards compatibility there are way over 1000 games for the system. You get all the big Nintendo names: Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pokémon, and Metroid. But there are so many others like Dragon Quest/Warrior, Bionic Commando, Shantae, Metal Gear.... and of course it the best way to play Tetris ever. In the end, sure it can’t touch the newer handhelds like the 3DS for ability, but it’s not all about ability...It’s about fun, and this amazing little machine can stand tall with the best when it comes to what is most important.Read full review

This is exactly as I remembered, and has given me a new chance to play the games I loved. It's lightweight and simple and very easy to use. The games, which must be purchased separately, slip into the slot in the back. There is an earphone jack if the music or sound is bothersome to others around.

I purchased this product to add another piece of gaming history to my collection. The unique color scheme and one-of-a-kind faceplate make for a beautiful handheld to be displayed (given it's still in good condition!). However, this model isn't a top pick for everyone: as it's a limited edition item, it's not really meant to be played. For those looking for a daily device to take on the go, I would recommend a classic Gameboy Color instead of investing in a special edition. Great product for the right person, but definitely a system that deserves respect and care.
Gameboy Color is great, just need to make sure the lighting is good. I enjoy playing these older games from my generation!

A really collectible piece of hardware that is not easy to find in this conditions! Really good value and great shape! Had no problems and it came really fast!

The device came nicely packaged and arrived timely. The device looks great. The only issue I have is that there wasn’t sufficient testing. The start and select buttons are difficult to press and the volume dial doesn’t function properly.

Any real gamer would love to own this collector's item. It is an old school gameboy that plays all of the original gameboy games. No collection is complete without it. It is also an excellent starter console for younger kids. I would rather have my nieces and nephews learn how to take care of an older, durable, game boy than a two or three hundred dollar Nintendo DS.
Works as advertised, looks great, and a lot of care went into making it presentable and clean!
