A great camera to grow into!
I wanted a smaller and lighter carry-around camera with the controls and picture quality of a DSLR. I don't want to give up my DSLR as I love the feel and speed of it, but I wanted something a little more'discreet'for street shooting and something more put-downable/pick-upable at a party. The GX1 seems to fit the bill perfectly, so far, tho I'm eagerly waiting for the new viewfinder to arrivt. That, I definitely miss, but I guess I'd get used to framing with the screen. Speaking of which I'm growing more and more in love with its touch features, especially the ability to quickly delete unwanted shots with a couple of quick touches, then another on the shutter to return to shooting. An old goldie
This is an old camera. There are enough reviews of this on the web. Now in the tail end of 2017 .. it is still a great camera. Here are some of the reasons: It is really small and pocketable - with the pancake lenses. Buy the 14mm 2.5 or the 14-42mm. You can buy any of these for under $200. And have a full HD touch screen camera for under $400. The build of the GX1 is fantastic and ageless. Super fast auto focussing with either lens. Of course one ca use the GX1 with other lenses - large or small. The largish (by m43 norms) 14-42mm is a great lens - sharp, well built and very affordable. This too one can pick up for under $200. GREAT CAMERA REALLY IMPRESSIVE
This is my first SLR camera, and i must say i am quite impressed, I am not an experienced photographer.The fotos are fantastic, and the options and functions this camera offers are unbelievable. The colours of the pictures are really great. Even some of the nightshots without the flash are quite amazing, just remember i am only a novice in fotography. The small size was for me the deciding factor to buy it as it fits anywhere. Personally I think this was a great buy.This is my first SLR camera, and i must say i am quite impressed, I am not an experienced photographer.The fotos are fantastic, and the options and functions this camera offers are unbelievable. I feel totaly screwed by Panasonic, don't buy it!
My problems with this camera are with downloading the video to the computer. The camera will record video in what I think is NTSC or so the camera tells me that. I try to download video and the computer tells me that the video is recorded in something other than NTSC. The computer downloads other Panasonic cameras with no problem. I have been in contact with Panasonic about this and they have told me that I am Out of Luck because this camera came from overseas, they can't or wont help me. I will not be buying Panasonic in the future nor should you if you want any sort of customer support.My problems with this camera are with downloading the video to the computer. Compact enough to carry around in your pocket with stunning results!
Hi there all, I bought this camera because I wanted to be able to use interchangeable lenses and it serves this very well both with its own lenses and old film lenses that I had lying around!It takes great photos in auto mode but you can use manual if so desired!
