English summary: The innumerable architectural members, once strewn about the Athenian Acropolis, are an important source for the reconstruction of the buildings on the Acropolis. Only the difficult sorting, registering, measuring and drawing, and the assignment of the fragments to their former context make this material truly valuable for scientific research. This work was done by Konstantinos Kissas, former member of the team working on the Acropolis and today Ephor of Antiquities in Corinth. His study presented here inlcudes more than 120 fragments documented in drawings, photographs and reconstructions (and more material is available on a CD that accompanies the volume). He offers important detailed observations that lead to new proposals for the reconstruction of the buildings of the Athenian Acropolis in the Archaic period, i. e. the century before the destruction of Athens by the Persians in 480 B.C. The material consists largely of unpublished architectural members, such as roof tiles of Naxian marble and sima- and metope-fragments from the so-called H-Building, which are studied in connection with architectural members of the Old Athena Temple. Dieser Aufgabe hat sich Konstantin Kissas, ehemaliger Mitarbeiter auf der Athener Akropolis und derzeitiger Ephoros der Altertumer in Korinth, angenommen. Er legt in diesem Band mit mehr als 120 in Zeichnungen und Photographien publizierten Fragmenten (weiteres Material ist auf einer beigefugten CD dokumentiert) und in Rekonstruktionen die Ergebnisse seiner Untersuchungen vor. Sie erbringen wichtige neue Erkenntnisse und Vorschlage zur Rekonstruktion der Akropolis-Bebauung der archaischen Zeit, das heisst vor der Zerstorung der Gebaude durch die Perser im Jahre 480 v. Chr. Bei dem Material handelt es sich zum grossen Teil um erstmals publizierte Bauteile wie zum Beispiel Dachziegel aus naxischem Marmor und um Simen und Metopen der H-Architektur, die im Zusammenhang mit den Baugliedern des Alten Athena-Tempels diskutiert werden.

Review - German "seit den Abriss- und Grabungsarbeiten der Mitte des 19. Jh. liegen auf der Athener Akropolis zahllose Bauteile und Architekturfragmente herum, die muhsam zu dokumentieren und auszuwerten sind. Kissas hat 13 Jahre lang die Fragmente der archaischen Architektur untersucht und stellt in diesem Band seine Ergebnisse vor. Hauptsachlich entstammen die Teile der H-Architektur des ersten oder des beginnenden zweiten Viertels des 6. Jh., also dem Tempel, zu dem der eindrucksvolle Giebel mit dem Dreileibigen gehort, und dem peisistratidischen oder kleisthenischen Alten Athena-Tempel. Einige Detailfragen der Architektur konnten geklart werden, aber vor allem vertritt Kissas die These, dass auch der Tempel der H-Architektur auf dem Dorpfeld-Fundament zwischen Partheon und Erechtheion stand, dieses also auch in das erste Viertel des 6. Jh. gehort. Wirtschaftsgeschichtlich hochst interessant sind Kissas' Uberlegungen zum lakonischen Marmordach wohl des beginnenden 6. Jh., von dem man nicht weiss, zu welchem Bau es gehorte. Im Gegensatz zu den spateren Gebauden, die aus attischem Marmor bestehen, wurde das Dach aus naxischem Marmor verfertigt. Anhand der Bearbeitungsspuren und der Ritzbuchstaben lasst sich nachweisen, dass die Ziegel als Rohlinge in Naxos selbst hergestellt und in Athen endverarbeitet wurden, was wichtige Details des hocharchaischen Marmorhandels und der Arbeitsablaufe beim Tempelbau deutlichmacht."FDIn: Orbis Terrarum.
