About this product

Product Information

Project Gotham Racing makes its second appearance on Xbox 360 with several key additions, from a dynamically changing weather system to the option of racing motorcycles alongside the iconic sports cars. The predecessor's five cities have been updated with new visual effects and enhancements, including red-and-white "rumble strips" to more easily identify approaching turns, and drivers can now tear up the streets in four international locales: Macau, St. Petersburg, Shanghai, and Quebec. A tenth venue, the fictitious Michelin Test Track, is patterned after traditional NASCAR courses for special invitational events in the single-player career mode.

The kudos system of earning points for flashy moves returns, but now players will receive star ratings for combos and computer AI drivers will more aggressively compete for kudos. The career mode is more fleshed out and personalized compared to previous versions, with loyal fans following your driver to each event, wearing clothing with your logo or waving your home country's flag, and with a television-style atmosphere complete with camera crews and running commentary. The licensed vehicle list has expanded to 120 models, including such classics as a Corvette Sting Ray, a Maserati 250F, a Toyota Supra Turbo, and a DeLorean DMC-12.

In addition to the career mode (which spans 200 races and includes new garages for storing vehicles), users can participate in 70 arcade-style events or compete in eight-player online races via Xbox Live. New event types include "survivor" and "superstar," with the latter testing a player's skill in completing tricks within time limits. A new "Team Play" online mode has four friends creating a racing team and working together to take out other top-ranked teams. The Gotham TV option introduced in PGR 3 also returns with an "on demand" feature that not only lets users share photos and streaming video, but also search for specific footage or players by keyword.

    Beautiful graphics and great gameplay

I read some reviews while waiting for it to arrive that made me think it wasn't going to be a great game, but it definitely is. The graphics and scenery are beautiful and the abundance of vehicles to choose from makes for hours of experimenting. I play this game almost every day now and I highly recommend it for someone looking for a good racing game.

  • PGR4 - Good arcade racer

PGR4 is a good game, but there are a few things holding it back from being a great one. [+] Excellent graphics Great sense of speed Kudos system makes every turn count in some fashion Motorcycles are fun and easy to control Easy to pick up and play Works great with xbox steering wheel Good customization [-] Not nearly as many vehicle options as in Forza 2 Motorcycles can make the game almost too easy For an arcade style sim, cars still tend to spin out of control a lot Overall, I recommend PGR4 only behind Forza 2 as far as the racing experience on the xbox 360 goes. If you're looking for an arcade style, jump in the saddle and play type of racer, you can't go wrong with PGR4, but if you want the answer to Sony's Gran Turismo on your 360, get Forza 2.

  • 7.5/10

A lot of times, racing games can get lost in the mix of the 1000s of other games just like it. However, PGR4 sets itself apart with a little bit different interface and the fact that a sizable portion of the game has been devoted to bikes. This point, however, brings up another quite frustrating point: unless the race that you are in involves only bike opponents you are doomed to lose as the bikes (while quite powerful) just cannot keep up with the plethora of supercars. I like this game, but it's not one of my favorites. It's menu setup is confusing at times, and the whole "picture mode" is pretty much pointless. There are many games, in my opinion, that are better than this, including: all the Midtown Madness games, Burnout Paradise (only), definitely Forza 1 & 2, and Gran Turismo ...

  • PGR4 full racing experience

Project Gotham Racing 4 the trilogy was a great arcade and multiplayer experience ever since the first Xbox came out. The carreer is also a great adventure into the life of a real tournament racer and it's older arcade like simulation made it a game that's really hard to get bored of. The weather changes within a race and can instantly change how you react to the game and how the a.i. will react as well. I give this game a 3/5 because the graphics aren't really up to par with the date the game was released and the music can really get annoying. All in all great game for family or for the online pros that rock the virtual internet on xbox live. Thanks for reading, Ray Worden.

  • not a sim racer, but certainly more than just arcade

It's got a lot to love, although it might be more of the same if you're a previous PGR 3 fan. But the graphics and flair are just undeniable. It's not a sim racer like Forza MS 2 or Gran Turismo 5 Prologue but it's close enough. PGR has a distinct feel to it and that's why you'd buy it. Plus it's got a nice list of manufacturers and vehicles to chose from. If you're looking for a great racer to add to your collection and keep your roster of cars up to date, PGR 4 is your game. Me personally, I think it's great on its own if you had to chose between it and Forza MS 2. There are those who would balk at its arcade feel...that's the whole POINT! Truth be told, when I wanna feel the wind in my hair I'll go for a spin in my REAL car. If I wanna just pick up the controller and play something fun ...
