About this product

Product Information

This is the book the interior design world has been waiting for! Since 1929 Scalamandré has been weaving its own exquisite silks, wools, linens and cottons as well as laboriously hand making elaborate and ornate passementerie (trims, cordings, tiebacks and fringes) for some of the finest interiors in the country. Scalamandré has also had the unique role of being the major manufacturer of historical fabrics in the United States, and over the years has woven historically accurate textiles for restorations ranging from the Red Room of the White House to William Morris' home Kelmscott in England.

  • Fabulous and indispensable book

My designer had suggested I buy this book, but I had no idea that it would prove to be such a valuable resource. I think it's a major resource for anyone interested in high end design. It is a treasure trove filled with a great many of Scalamandre's wonderful fabrics and trims, and it's overflowing with different design options as well. One cannot make a mistake by buying this book.

  • Fabulous

I bought the book for Interior Decorating ideas, especially drapery.I wasn't aware that it gave you the name of the fabric and trim used.It has been a very valuable source of ideas and information about the Scalmandre Company. While the many of the decorating styles shown are not my taste, the fabulous drapery shown, made me come up with many ideas. This is strickly higher end decor, there are no simple uncomplicated decors. Buy this book if your a plan on purchasing Scalmandre fabric online, between the book and Scalmandre's website, you can arm yourself with knowldege and stay away from the fakes being offered.
