Quality IPS Screen Bugged by Software issues.
10” Digital Picture Frame 1280 x 720 IPS Screen It’s great to have one convenient device for viewing all my digital pictures. “Landscape” image can be easily seen on my MRQ 10” IPS screen. The viewable size is 8-5/8” by 4-3/4”. The device comes with a removable stand for landscape display, if the device is not hung on the wall using the convenient hanging hole located on the back. Note: There are also four M2 holes for a display mount not mentioned in any literature. The only cons I have found are: If your pictures were taken in portrait mode the frame reduces the picture to 4-3/4” tall and places black bars on the left and right side. When the alarm sounds it is of a crowing rooster (very funny MRQ). I have found no way to customize this as of yet. The images have all been re-named to 7-characters on an 32GB SD card in an attempt to keep the images from freezing when being displayed on the IPS screen. It seems to have helped, however the display still freezes on random images. In addition, I have turned off the motion sensor and still keep getting frozen images. We are now turning the frame on and off manually. I love the fact that the DGF-101 has an IPS screen because the clarity and viewing angles on the displayed images look incredible. This is why I decided to purchase this frame instead of any other brands currently available. However, the software on the frame does not function as intended when in actual use. I am disappointed by the frozen frames and having to unplug the frame to reset the software. I have disabled all the features ie motion detection and even the alarm. There are no options to change the alarm from a rooster to something else which is very annoying. Your literature does not state that the alarm is a crowing rooster and nothing else. There are times when the frame is on and the display just turns black and freezes. Pictures set a 5 second viewing interval display for less than one second before switching to next image. I purchased the frame for my mother as a gift to view all her photos. I had hoped to purchase two more frames for her and another for myself, and additional ones for my family for the upcoming holidays. It seems that I have to rethink giving these as a gift as I would be too embarrassed knowing they will not work as intended. These frames are not really a quality purchase since the software is not reliable. It's a shame that such a beautiful screen has been compromised by the software running it.
