[...] Wir mussen eine Atmosphare schaffen, in der sich jeder willkommen fuhlt. So wie Frau Prof. Dr. Mandel, Kulturwissenschaftlerin und Professorin am Institut fur Kulturpolitik der Universitat Hildesheim, wurden wohl nur progressive und modern eingestellte Kulturverantwortliche die Rolle von Museen bezeichnen. Ein neues Publikum suchen bedeutet, sich mit dem Leitbild und der Existenzberechtigung von Museen auseinanderzusetzen und neue Wege und Ideen zu finden, Menschen von Museen zu uberzeugen und zu begeistern. Dazu gehoert unter anderem, sich Marketingkonzepte zu uberlegen und umzusetzen. Dieses so genannte Kulturmarketing , also Marketing, das speziell auf Kultureinrichtungen angepasst ist, stoesst haufig auf grosse Ablehnung seitens der Verantwortlichen. Ein Museum musse Inhalte und Werte vermitteln, die nichts mit der platten Vermarktung gemein hatten und es habe einen besonderen Auftrag in der Gesellschaft . Doch diese Werte verfehlen ihr Ziel, wenn der Sparzwang des Bundes die Kulturbetriebe in finanzielle Noete treibt, junge Nachwuchsbesucher weiterhin Mangelware in Museen sind und es an neuen (Marketing-)Ideen fehlt, um die Finanzen und das Image wieder aufzubessern. Zudem sehen sich Museen einer immer groesser werdenden Freizeitkonkurrenz, u.a. von Erlebnisparks gegenuber. Kulturmarketing spielt fur die UEberlebensfahigkeit von Museen eine entscheidende Rolle, wie die vorliegende Arbeit verdeutlichen soll.
