About this product

Product Information

You can zoom in and capture the scenery in front of you, or record a video of a special moment with the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX7K 10.1 MP digital camera. This premium, compact digital camera is built with a bold, black exterior that is finished with a nano surface coating. The Panasonic DMX-LX7 camera is powered by the Venus engine to ensure seamless performance. It can offer a user friendly interface in an attractive format and has a sensor resolution of 10.1 megapixels. The LX7's lens comes equipped with a maximum aperture range of f/1.4–f/2.3. This range can ensure adequate light for excellent illumination and can prevent background blurring, which can make it easy to focus on specific objects with clarity. The DMX-LX7 is also equipped with a high dynamic range, which can work to improve the image quality by enabling the camera pick out an image that is more like what your eyes see. This capability can be ideal for a photo of a high contrast scene and photos taken in motion. The camera can zoom in and magnify your subject up to four times. The camera has a lens focal length of 24–90 that can come in handy when enabling clarity in images taken of a far object. The LX7 boasts a burst rate of 11 frames per second. This type of feature can ensure that several photos can be captured in quick succession. The ability to capture successive motion can be especially advantageous in sports photography. The Panasonic LUMIX comes equipped with a high resolution LCD display. This 3 inch display can offer a good view of objects to be captured, even without looking through the aperture. The screen also has a resolution of 920k dots, which can enhance the view while focusing on objects. The LX7 is also equipped with a neutral density filter. This can work to modify the intensity of all wavelengths of light, which can ensure overall dimming but no change in color. You can use an external flash with this camera. The LX7 has a built in 70MB storage capacity for temporary storage of video and photos in the absence of a memory card. The LX7 supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards, which can ensure adequate space for your media. It also supports large capacity external memory cards. The DMC-LX7 uses a DMW-BCJ13 lithium-ion battery. It can hold 4.5Wh of energy, which ensures a life of 330 shots before the charge is finished. You may not have to worry about replacing the battery often as the battery charger comes as a standard accessory. This can enable easy charging for longer use of the LUMIX. The Panasonic LUMIX's list of accessories can be extensive and suitable for professional photographers. It has an electronic viewfinder that can tilt upward to 90 degrees and features 1.44 million dots. It also includes an optical viewfinder that is designed for use at a wide angle. Another accessory is the neutral density filter that can reduce the amount of light coming through the lens by three stops. This can allow for slower shutter speeds and a wider aperture. Also provided is a polarizing filter, which can work to make the sky bluer in your photos. An external flash can ensure adequate illumination for taking photos to enhance clarity. An A/V cable is also included as an accessory to connect the LX7 to a television. Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional photographer, the Panasonic LUMIX could be a tool you depend on.

Great Camera at a Great Price. Leica Quality Without the Leica Cost

Excellent camera that sits one position down from the much more expensive (but also very great) LX-100. Nice and super-fast (f1.4) Leica lens, great build quality, easy to use in auto mode but also fully capable of manual settings. Shoots in JPEG or RAW or JPEG+RAW I added a Lumix electronic viewfinder, which makes the camera much easier to use in bright outdoor settings--and more like a traditional viewfinder camera. Some will find fault with the fact that it shoots only 1080P HD video (and the best quality comes in AVHCD, not MP4, which requires a little more work to get videos ready for editing or sharing), but that's not a big deal for me. The sensor is also significantly smaller than the one on the LX-100, but the average viewer won't be able to tell. I carry this camera with me on my bike and in other situations where I don't want to risk dropping my more expensive cameras. Samples of photos taken with my LX-7 are shown below.

Compact camera with lots of features for the advanced amateur photographer

A good compact camera with lots of features for the advanced user. But the picture quality never will rival a DSLR. This is a camera for the advanced amateur who needs to travel light and doesn't mind photos that aren't up to the standard of their digital SLR camera.

  • Light, fast and sharp camera, excellent for traveling.

Good for traveling, this camera is light, fast, and sharp. The unique feature about it is its f/1.4 Leica lens, the images taken by which are bright and sharp. And if you know how to use it in manual mode, you can create professional photos with creamy bokeh. When you see one under $170, don't let it slip away. Total weight of the beauty is less than 1 lb; which can easily fit in your pocket.

  • Just what I needed

I have a Canon SX60 bridge camera & Pentax K-3 with multiple lenses. The Lumix gives me a quality pocket camera with some of the advanced settings of a dslr. I really like the panoramic feature, works great. There's other options that I look forward to experimenting with. First photo is a 200 foot water tower near my place & the second is with the optical zoom. The third pic is from Shelving Rock Mt on Lake George, NY & the last is the panoramic view.

  • Great small camera

The LX-7 is a great little camera. I previously owned the LX-5 and enjoyed that which I gave to my son, the backpacker who cuts down the handle of his toothbrush to save weight. I like the ND filter and the 1.4 aperture the most. The added viewfinder is a blessing in the bright sunny skies where I live. That being said, I probably won't be keeping it because it doesn't flow with my other Fuji gear that I use. Once you get a workflow going and have the menus down with muscle memory, pulling out something else to grab a few quick pics isn't very intuitive.

  • Happy shooting camera.

The camera is a joy to use, light weight and takes good pictures. Extra battery are cheap.

  • Great photos

Perfect for my business, right lens type - slight wide angle, good in low light, the previous LX7 lasted about 5 years taking 50 to 150 photos per day, best compact camera I've owned over the past 30 years. Thinking about buying another for a backup.

  • Great pocket camera

Image quality is great, lens is great. I bought this to replace my Lumix GF1. The GF1 still takes better photos most of the time, I think due to the LX7's smaller sensor and overall consumer-grade build. But image quality is still very good and all of the extra conveniences make the trade-off worth it. It's smaller than the GF1, and much easier to tote around. It hangs easily from a wrist-strap, the GF1 (and other larger cameras) end up always being around your neck. The optional after-market automatic lenscap is brilliant and you would not believe how convenient it is. Truly solved an annoyance. Why pocket your lenscap or have it dangling and getting caught on stuff? If you buy this camera, get the aftermarket lenscap. Trust me on this one. The optional Electronic Viewfinder is easily twice as good as the one on my GF1. The exposure preview is incredibly useful (my GF1 doesn't have that). Build quality is pretty good - not as top-quality as the GF1 but still plenty solid enough.

  • LX7 is a classic

Steller small panasonic camera. It's 23-90mm lens gives awesome performance in a little package. The small mirrorless camera even though just 10 megapixels is still good for recording quality images or video.

  • Best camera I have owned to date.

Leaving the specifics to more qualified online reviews, here are some features that I found suitable to my needs: - Fast lens, so I seldom need the flash indoors. - Hand held night shots, very easy and nicely optimized. - Instant shutter response captures facial expressions in family shots that I would have otherwise missed. - Great for video's. - At first I thought I would have preferred an automatic lens cap, but now I feel the manual cap protects the camera better, and is not as subject to damage. - The optional electronic viewfinder makes this little beauty feel like a full featured DSLR, but without the bulk and weight. - Automatic point and shoot settings and modes work well, but enough manual control to satisfy a professional. - Recommend the book, "Photographer's Guide to the Panasonic Lumix LX7", available on Amazon. As I went through this book I uncovered and appreciated the features of this camera even more. - A little heavier than I expected, but not that heavy. - The engineering of this camera seemed to concentrate on photography, rather than knick knacks like wifi, GPS and social media sharing. I much prefer that for my engineering dollar.
