I bought it because it was highly rated in Consumer Reports. The photo (and regular) printing quality is excellent. The speed is quick, and it is a pretty quiet printer. Five annoying features: you have to exchange cartridges when you print out photos or plain B&W copies, and it's easy to forget which cartridge is in there. You have to put the picture paper in upside down, and if you run out of picture paper, it automatically prints on the plain paper in the lower tray instead of indicating that you're out of picture paper. Also, you have to be there as each picture is printing out or else they will stick together, ruining your pictures. Lastly, you have to flip a little arm out or the papers will fly off into the room after they are printed.
I’ve owned an HP Photosmart 7760 printer for 3 years. I purchased it used from a woman who did professional photography. I bought this printer because I needed a printer that would print high quality photos and also work for general use. This printer does print high quality photos but it is slow. For an 4 x 6 inch photo to print takes about 60 to 90 seconds. On a positive note, this type of printer does hold its value well. Many used ones like it sell for over $50 on eBay. My printer has two broken parts- a broken printer cartridge cradle and the adjustable know that switches between the two trays. Although I can’t find the replacement parts, I am still able to use this printer. Overall this is a decent printer. It would be nice if it was a little faster and more durable.
This printer is a very substantial one. It gets a lot of use and has stood up quite well. This is my second one. I also like the cartridges because they can easily be refilled, thereby saving a great deal of money that would have been spent on new replacement ones. As a matter of a fact, I have filled the color one at least 10 times and the black one over 20 times. I do not recommend it for photos that are for keeping because other printers produce better results.
It's an oldie but a goody. I bought this one to replace another 7760 that lasted, like 8 years. This particular one was in mint condition (store display). I still don't understand the idea of getting special paper and ink cartridge to print photos when Walgreens will do it overnight for less. But for regular printing, hey. I bought this old model again. That should speak for itself.

This is an obsolete printer that parts are not available for. However, this is the second used one I have purchased to replace my original one that finally died after many years of good service. The first used one was gotten to replace a broken paper tray on my first printer which I kept using. This second one was bought to completely replace the original printer which finally died. It's doing a great job and am glad to have it . I'm an old fogy and hate change and I believe that if something works, no need to change it. This printer fills all my needs from regular printing, to doing photos, making greeting cards, and doing presentation printing. HP did a bang-up job when they brought this printer out. Wish that I could get a brand new one in the box and save it for future reference.
