Thor. The Dark World
Okay. I love fantasies. There. I said it and I don't care who knows it. I've watched Thor and Thor - The Dark World as many times as I've watched all the other Avenger movies in my collection and I have quite a treasure trove of movies. Chris Hemsworth was born to play the role of Thor and he is so delightfully hunky (if that's even a word, but you know what I mean) that it's hard to take your eyes off him to watch the other characters. Kudo to whoever designed the costumes. The colors and textures are splendid and jaw dropping. Natalie Portman's stature is so petite and frail looking that you'd think Thor could break her bones simply by looking at her but she is made of sterner stuff that must be acknowledged. Tom Hiddleston is fantastic as Loki, Thor's adopted brother. I first saw Hiddleston in a movie called War Horse and he made such an impression I was delighted to finally be able to see him act again in an American film. I'm sure he's had much success in British movies. Rene Russo plays Thor's mother and is every bit the queen that she was meant to be. But that hair... What can be said about Anthony Hopkins that hasn't been said over and over again. He's outstanding in everything he does. I wonder if the Queen has made him a Sir yet? I know the movie was panned but, to be honest, I never listen to critics. They're much too high brow for a movie of this genre. If you don't expect it to be anything more than it is you won't be disappointed. It's a fun diversion and I believe that's all it was ever intended to be. Lastly, I got it at a great price which is not at all surprising as it was sold on ebay and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this seller again.
