The GPS portion could have been designed much better.
The range finder portion works fine. The GPS portion on the other hand is pretty temperamental. The satellite location period is very long. The differentiation between course name abbreviations can be confusing and if you pick the wrong one you have to go completely thru the process again including the long locating period. How long you need to press the 4 function buttons to get a response is kind of random and at times will turn off the GPS which is very aggravating. AND the GPS unit has turned itself off during a round with plenty of power left. It should, in my opinio, only turn off when I tell it too.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It does what it’s supposed to do

Accurate Laser Rangefinder, Bonus GPS
Callaway/Nikon rangefinders are highly accurate, handy in size, very good values in the used marketplace, and highly reliable. My gamer for the last few years is an older LR 500 which I bought used 4 years ago and which has markedly improved my game. For many years, I was a traditionalist who simply eyeballed my shot distances and, when wrong, suffered the consequences. I had an older Bushnell that failed on me within a year and I bought the LR 500 as the price was right. The LR 500 is still going strong and, when I saw this rangefinder at a very reasonable price, I figured this was a good deal. The laser is quick and easy to use and the GPS is a plus, though, IMO, the GPS would suit someone with a better golf skills than I. I'm a Floridian and the courses I play are fairly flat with little elevation change so a laser without slope really suits my needs. And, for the record, let me note that I have accumulated a few other rangefinders by other manufacturers but the Callaway/ Nikons are superior for reliability, IMO. This one came with a magnetic sleeve to hold it on the cart and it, like the the old LR, is handy, accurate, and an overall excellent product. Wish it worked
GPS software identified some wrong greens. Downloaded latest software and GPS still did not identify some greens correctly. GPS screen was difficult to read in bright sunlight. GPS battery lasts about 54 holes. Laser rangefinder sometimes took 3 or more checks to find distance at 100 to 200 yards. Hybrid is a convenient hand size.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
