    Updated to OS 10.11.6

Excellent value for money. The MacBook Mid 2010 is to replace an old one with a cracked hinge being used to record the sermons at church. I ordered it because it has the same hardware that allows the versatility of swapping the head phone jack from output to input in System Preferences allowing me to record directly into Audacity (a recording software) from the church sound amplifier. The Original MacBook 2010 has 8 GM of RAM, but, The installed 4 GB of installed RAM in this one handles the recording with no problem. You might be wondering, if both are identical why not swap the RAM. Simply put, even with the cracked hinge, the old one is perfect for sitting in my recliner and connecting to the internet. The laptop was restored to factory settings. Though the MacBook was listed in eBay running OS 10.11.6 (El Capitan) it was running the original OS: No problem After setting it up with my information, LAN , Airport Extreme PW and my Apple ID and PW it was a 2-2 1/2 Hr download over our internet ISP connection.

Still amazing (as a kid's gift for school and media consumption)

The things I like the most about this Macbook model is as following: 1) The battery, memory chips and hard disk are easily upgradeable, no need to be a tech savvy. Watch a YouTube tutorial (which are plenty),get the proper tools, which are dirt cheap and you'll be fully covered. 2) High Sierra is the latest OS -oficially- supported by Apple although you can jump to Mojave or even Catalina following dosdude1 online guides. 3) A fresh new thermal paste application will provide a more steady performance without heating issues to these machines, take it to your nearest IT shop and pay for this job. 4) Even though this Macbook supports up to 2 TB of internal storage, you can remove DVD optical drive and install another hard disk if needed; it's a little more complex task but also a bonus. I bought a mid-2010 Macbook base model and a couple of purchases later, I installed 8 GB of 1066 MHZ RAM, 250 Crucial MX 500 SSD, HDD caddy (to install the older 250 GB HDD as extra storage) because she doesn't watch movies like that anymore, the battery was still holding strong at 9 cycles and some fresh thermal pasting; this computer goes from charm noise to password input in less than 15 seconds (No joke!). My daughter loves it and it's more than enough processing machine for a 12 year old kid who uses MS Office, watches YouTube, Netflix, Apple Music and plays Minecraft (mid-range settings yet playable). No regrets!

  • Great product, but reinstalling Mac could be tricky

Watch out, reinstalling mac to ensure everything was clear was a bit tricky, since it was registered with some school district and it wouldn't allow me to complete the reinstall until I turned wifi off so it wouldn't contact Apple's servers. Otherwise it goes great; battery holds for 4 hours; everything is functional; though it has shut down on me randomly a couple times when I've got the CPU and GPU maxed out

  • MacBook a bargain

This is the last model year for the white polycarbonate MacBook and it is at this point quite a bargain. It will run the current MacOS very well although I would recommend at least 8gig of memory (that much memory is very inexpensive right now). I did install a 240gig SSD (again, really very inexpensive at this point, I paid $69 for mine). With this combination I don't really see any issues. The battery life (even used) is very good almost 7 hours continuous runtime and it's easy to replace it if need be. Screen is very bright, sound is very good all in all a great way to run the current MacOS without breaking the bank!

  • Fantastic MacBooks

We have come to see the value in purchasing the refurbished late 2009 MacBook. This model has most of the features of a MBP even but without the higher cost and that's especially helpful in a house with children that can lead to accidents. It really has great speeds, handles multitasking well, can be updated to the latest OS and the graphics card is amazing for many games. If you don't want to invest in a new model and don't mind possibly a few exterior scratches that can be covered with a case, this is a great way to go. We have been very happy purchasing a couple of them for our home and business use.

  • MacBook

This is my first Apple Laptop. I didn't hesitate when I found this one. Awesome price. Computer arrived quickly unscaved and it was exactly what was described. I found it easy to use, it's fast enough for me on my high speed internet. And I can't express how much I love this computer. I learned on internet explorer and this is my dream! Thanks so much for making my dream come true! Do not hesitate to purchase this awesome computer.

  • Useful, as expected, very little cosmetic damage

This lightweight little computer is updated to High Sierra which, for someone who hasn't used a Mac computer since 2012 has a bit of a learning curve. I'm a college student and I can't exactly carry my gaming desktop to and from class. I wanted an inexpensive computer, older but good quality. My grandparents have a windows laptop from the same year, even after being restored to factory settings it's no where near as fast as this computer, even though it has the same amount of RAM. I picked this computer specifically because of the 4 GBs of RAM. I use an external hard drive so I can not only transfer files between both computers and so I have enough space for every file and all the software I could need, which solves the lack of storage space issue. There are a few cracks in the computer, but they're easily covered by a hard case or a skin. All in all it works as expected and certainly as advertised. My only actual complaint is shipping time when compared to price. I paid over $15 to ship this computer to California from Rochester, NY. It came the day it said it would, but took three-four days longer then an item I purchased an hour before (which also came from the east coast) which had free shipping. I placed the order on a Tuesday, it didn't ship until the following Monday. Be prepared for that if you decide on this particular item. It's a good thing I ordered between semesters, otherwise I'd be out of luck.

  • Better than expected

I've had this laptop for well over a month, and it continues to exceed my performance expectations for a computer model that's over five years old. Pop an SSD and up the RAM, and you have a pretty functional laptop that boots quickly, runs snappily (Safari, Mail, and Spotify all boot in less than a few seconds simultaneously); and it is affordable and sure to last you a while. I can play some minor games (Portal, Half Life) in it, so long as I don't run other heavy programs (Spotify, Safari, Photos) while playing. It was in decent condition when it arrived; clean and updated to the latest OS. It's honestly perfect for any kid wanting a good cheap laptop for school. It's also super cute in white, and maybe not as light as the Pro, but easily carried nonetheless. The graphics card is impressive, making the display bright and crisp, which I wouldn't expect from an older Mac model. It's not a powerhouse or a beast, but the battery lasts quite a few hours running the full brightness display, and with the NVIDIA GForce graphics card and an SSD, you've no reason to spend nearly a thousand on a Macbook Pro if you're just looking for a basic cute laptop to suit your daily needs.

  • Souped up white macbook

I bought this computer because it had 8GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive, which is way more than the stock specs show. I had just been fired from my job and needed a decent computer after I sold my Macbook Pro to pay rent during my last stint of unemployment. I warmed my heart, then, to find out that the Jobs Foundation teaches economically disadvantaged adults marketable skills and gives them a better shot at making a future for themselves. I figured this out AFTER the purchase, and felt further led. Yes, the computer is old, and as such could use a bit more (like a new battery, for example) and yes, the trackpad is tilted as stated...probably a screw in the wrong place. But overall, everything works fairly quickly and I'm a satisfied customer. And I really appreciate what the Jobs Foundation is doing.

  • Love my new Mac!

The A1342 Mac I received is truly good as new on the inside! I got this computer because I needed something more low-key and user-friendly than the PC I got for uni. The unit I received has minimal cracks (hardly noticeable) around the hinges and it was a little scuffed on the bottom but a good wipedown resolved that--it's honestly a beautiful machine and I LOVE the white. It's a little heavier than I was used to BUT still impressively light for being almost a decade old! My unit could hold a charge for about 2 hours, which is also impressive but I may replace the battery myself at some point. :) It came with Sierra and I don't think I'll upgrade to High Sierra to save some space/RAM/to avoid any compatibility issues. The computer takes about a minute to start up but other than that, it truly runs good as new. It's speedy and the display is gorgeous compared to my 2016 PC! I think going with 8GB RAM was a good move. I truly think this is as good as it comes if you're looking for one of these older MacBooks! It's an INCREDIBLE value ($250 for a computer that runs as well as a $1200 one, albeit heavier and without the insane battery life of newer Macs). I've gotten used to the weight (it isn't too bad and the computer is still sleek) and it's become my primary computer. After I replace the battery, I may not go back to my PC aside from when I have to for PC-specific programs for school).
