    • A Profound Work of History

Bijan Omrani is the offspring of a marriage between an Iranian nobleman and and an Englishwoman from a military family. Omrani is explcitly English, a Christion and a churchwarden. He has taught at Eton. His thesis is that Christianity produced England as we know it. If Christianity is now withering on the bough, it ought to be of great concern. For over 1,700 years Christianity was instrumental in the creation and development of the English nation, its law codes and morality., its system of government and monarchy. Its cultural impact is profound, from art to landscape. Its influence, Omrani contends, has been enormous, profound and largely benign. It shoudl not be lightly abandoned. Omrani writes history as literature; anyone can enjoy, as well as being instructed by, this book.
