  • Denon AVRS910W Provives Perfect Sound

I am very impressed with the Denon AVR-910W. Easy setup if you follow the easy instructions. The surround Sound is perfect, better than any other receiver I have owned. Suggestions. My receiver has a lot of HDMI Inputs, but I also used an optical cable (cheap from Amazon). My Grandson loves the surround sound on SpongeBob!!! I was advised I did not need one with HDMI, but I added it for any sound coming from the TV. The only problem I experienced is that I have a lot of older analog and digital equipment without HDMI outputs. With a , cassette tape deck, reel to reel tape deck and a CD player to hookup was more difficult. (There are not any Tape 1, Tape 2 inputs and outputs, but a CD player RCA plug input. I ended up using a older TEAC EQ unit to connect all of these through the CD RCA Plugs. I hardly ever use these sources, but I wanted to have a way to play them. If you have newer equipment with HDMI cables then you are set with this unit. Once again I am very impressed with the sound quality.

  • All HDMI ports are HDCP 2.2 ; not many out there like this

Having purchased a new 4k TV, and actually researching the claims of other receivers that are "4k" compatible, I found that most weren't really - with respect to having the hardware to actually play 4k content. If you want to play normal 1080 content and your happy with that - it's not a big deal (but you just bought a TV that is capable of playing content 4x better). Because of the copyright protectin scheme with this content, it is different from other copyright content protectin schemes. To be 4K complinat, you have to connect through an HDMI 2.0 connection whihc also has the hardware to be HDCP 2.2. HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy prevention technology that’s been used on HDMI connections for over ten years. Version 2.2 is the latest, designed specifically to prevent illegal copying of 4K Ultra HD content. HDCP 2.2 requires a “hardware” update – it’s not something you can fix with a firmware update. To this end, you want to make SURE your receiver - as well as any other new components you may be purchasing (BlueRay, Soundbars,TVs) all have HDCP 2.2 associated with the HDMI 2.o connectin. MOST recievers out there today MAY have one of their 5 to 7 connections with both capabilities, but few have ALL like this Denon. This is from a great article by Steve Kindig on the subject: The HDCP 2.2 issue doesn’t just apply to Ultra High Definition TVs and video sources – it affects any other components in the signal chain. If you run your HDMI connection through a home theater receiver or sound bar, it’ll need to be HDCP 2.2 compliant, as well. Any device in the chain that prevents the HDCP digital handshake from happening will prevent you from seeing a 4K image. HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0: When you read about 4K TVs, you’ll often see references to both HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0, which can be a little confusing. HDMI 2.0 is also required for TVs and components to be able to pass 4K video. The big difference is that HDMI 2.0 is backward-compatible with previous HDMI versions, while HDCP 2.2 is not backward-compatible when it comes to 4K video. That means you can connect older sources, like a regular Blu-ray player or cable box to a new 4K TV and enjoy an HD picture. But if a 4K TV senses a 4K video source, it's going to look for the HDCP authentication in order to complete the digital handshake. If it doesn't see it, no 4K picture. You can't assume that every device that claims HDMI 2.0 will also support HDCP 2.2. HDCP 2.2 is all about protecting 4K Ultra HD content. If you’re perfectly happy with the 1080p picture you’re getting from your current HDTV and Blu-ray player, and have no plans to upgrade to 4K, there’s no reason to be concerned about HDCP 2.2 right now. If you are shopping for a 4K TV, you should definitely look for HDCP 2.2 compatibility. Nearly all name-brand 2014 4K TVs have at least one HDMI input that’s compatible with HDCP 2.2.

  • A very nice medium level receiver. Lots of features. Lots of free tech support from Denon

It is a nice product. It is a big jump over in audio quality over my built in TV speakers. I am using a 5.0 set-up. The set-up is not instant. Using the microphone and following the prompts on the setup menu the TV screen, getting surround to sound balanced went well. Wi-fi and Bluetooth setup was slow without any major problems. Denon's customer support was extremely helpful three times when I had questions. They know their stuff and provided knowledgeable advice. I hardwired the LAN for easier connectivity. Typing in user names and passwords on their setup was tedious. One drawback, no pre-amp out. I used a pre-amp to send signal to the amp that powers the speakers in other rooms on my old receiver. Pre-am out is available on the higher end Denon's. All in all a very good product that is one generation old.

  • Great AV Receivver

Purchased because of reviews on the web. This is the third Av Receiver I have owned. It is by far the best and easiest to set up. It does exactly what they say it will do. Plenty of connections for expansion. So many features that I have not had a chance to try them all. Still new so I will wait to see how durable and reliable it is. Only problem was it will not work with my Sony blu-ray, but I believe it's the Sony unit that is the problem. HDMI on the Sony is flakey and I have problems with it interfacing with my other receiver and TV. I would definitely purchase again at this point. Very satisfied so far.

This is my second Denon receiver. My first was the Avr-1910 bought years ago.........this new receiver is light years ahead of my old one. The clarity of sound is superb. Don't hesitate....this is really worth the money.

  • Denon AVR-S910w

After going through 2 Yamaha's, I decided to try Denon. Got a better price than the big box store with this seller, super fast free delivery, and with a Square Trade warranty, peace of mind. Have had several claims with them, and always a pleasure to deal with. This unit actually sounds better than the Yamaha's
