    Exactly what we needed

After dropping cable and living with several dozen local antenna-sourced channels we realized that we had been spoiled by the ability to record programs for future watching. This version of TiVo was just what we needed, allowing us to record shows for future playback. The ability to skip over commercials on some programs, one button series recording, and a great channel schedule screen are welcome features...should've done this a long time ago.

    Limited App Selection

The TiVo Romeo OTA has a fatal flaw, that being the limited app selection. It this is not corrected TiVo will join the Beta Tape in history. Roku is far superior in this aspect. The TiVo is a very good digital receiver but the guide is crowded with channels we do not receive. Experience may help us customize the listing but it will take work. Internet is still necessary so the streaming through Roku seems to be a better solution and no mini devices are needed. As for streaming TV we found AT&T TV to be affordable and intuitive. Cloud DVRs are making the home DVR a relic.

  • Smaller than older versions, Skip option is a dream

Google "how does Tivo put skips in the shows?" Once the show is over, most network programs have the skip option added. This can record four programs at once from the HD over the air antenna. The device also streams things like Netflix,, Hulu and Amazon Prime if you subscribe. The HBO Go is not currently allowing me to use my DirecTV Now HBO subscription, but HBO from other vendors may let you access HBO Go through their sign-in information. I have had Tivo for years and this is my all-time favorite unit. Locally, we have PBS, NBC, CBS, ABC, CW and Fox plus serveral other formerly UHF things that are over the air. Each channel also has various other versions as, for example, 25.2 and 25.3 showing old TV shows or movies. I love this Tivo.

  • Cord cutters dream

The TIVO Roamio OTA is a cord cutter's dream for recording shows over an antenna (OTA). It gives you a guide, and you can record shows and store them up to a total of 150 hours (or buy more cloud space if you wish). It is easy to use and has great features like commercial skip, rewind, fast forward, etc. You can schedule recordings with various options. Other reviews have said this device will allow you to record off streaming apps like Netflix, and I have not been able to do that with this TIVO device, although other TIVO models probably do allow that. My wife was upset about losing DirectTV (but not about losing the huge bill), but this device has resolved most of her issues.

  • Good option for cord cutters

This is a good DVR option for cord cutters. The interface is very user friendly, especially for the channel guide. However, the streaming apps are limited and fairly slow, and somewhat outdated. So they work? Yes. Is there a better option for streaming? Yes. However, the Roamio does an OK job of integrating the two together. One huge upside is the ease of upgrading the hard drive to a larger size. A 2tb drive can be bought for $50, and installed and running in 10 minutes. No formatting required if you stick to 3tb or less. Voice remote works great for the OTA guide. Not as good for the streaming apps. Overall, I’d buy it again.

  • Just about perfect DVR for the streaming age

The integration of the streaming services with the DVR works well and is intuitive. My wife was very skeptical of cutting our cable TV cord with an OTA + streaming, but she loves it. The skip commercial feature works great and even reminds you to do it when a show cuts to commercial. We're very happy with this purchase.

  • Happy with dvr

My only complaint is having to adjust to a new system. I had a DTV dvr and liked the ease of choosing shows to record and how they were saved in a simple list. Finding shows was simple. TIVO gives me more information but you have to go channel by channel to see what is showing later in the day. The shows are saved in files segregated by show name. I enjoyed just a simple list. I'm already adjusting and am very happy with TIVO, 4 channel, 1 Tbyte dvr. I just wish companies didn't always try to do things you really don't want them to do; think Microsoft.

  • TIVO Roamio is better than expected

TIVO Roamio OTA is excellent way to make your cord-cutting experience worthwhile. You can view the channel line-up, record shows, speed past advertising, etc; everything you used to do with the cable company's DVR. I love the convenient way to find my shows with the excellent channel line-up displayed. I can record up to 4 shows at once. With an Internet connection you also have access to the ROKU lineup and other premium channels. The remote control is a little more complex, but once you get it down, it's second nature like all the other remotes we use.

  • Good DVR for using Antenna TV.

Enjoy using my new DVR after being on Satellite television. Takes a little getting used to the controls, but easy to setup and use it familiar with DVR recording.

  • Good Over The Air (OTA) DVR

I've owned and used a TiVo Roamio for 5 years with great satisfaction. When it started acting wonky, I found a replacement on eBay and had it up and running in a few hours. Tip: If buying a previously owned TiVo, do a complete reset, lot's easier in the long run.
