    Story around the main character.

    The movie shows the human side of WW2. The Jews had a hard time. The main characters hid hundreds of Jews in their zoo right under the noses of the German soldiers. They went to great lengths to keep them safe while feeding them and caring for them. The German soldiers never knew but the Jews were hidden in plain sight. The Zookeeper's wife was played with perfection by Jessica Chastain who has a way with animals. She showed such emotion and perfection in her portrayal of this true life character Her husband, who was the zookeeper, was a pivotal character, was lost and found in the war. Ms. Chastain was strong and superb in her role. No one could have carried this important part like she did. She interacted well with the animals like no one could have. She looked and spoke the part of a wartime Pole. I have watched this movie many times because of the excellent story and acting abilities of the cast members. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. I, to, am a person who lost family in the holocaust.

    Jessica Chastain Commands The Screen!

    I've followed this powerful film packed with powerhouse performances (Especially by star Jessica Chastain) since I discovered it was going into production up until the DVD release. I first read the novel several years ago and am so incredibly happy with this amazing adaptation. The story is one that demands attention and the characters shape and mold in such a way that's absolutely breathtaking to watch unfold. This is not one to miss!

    As good as the book!

    Some of the scenes depicted in the book required visuals in order to get a better grasp of what was going on in the story. The DVD provided those glimpses which completed the prose. The story is often grim, but presumably accurate and for that reason, amazing. The DVD itself was new in factory wrap and played flawlessly.

    Wonderful, insightful movie

    Wonderful movie. I've never read the book, so can't compare to that, but this movie captured my interest right from the beginning, and carried through right to the end. It had a great insight into some specific events that happened in Poland throughout WWII. A great movie to learn from, and hopefully keep us from repeating history.

    True story done very well, amazing story about how they saved the lives of over 300 Jews during the Nazi's occupation of Poland during the 2nd World War. Wonderful acting especially by Jessica Chastain. I always appreciate the telling of true stories even though they may be quite grim in content. Lest we forget.

    Required Viewing

    This movie should be required viewing for high school students and adults in this country. Holocaust deniers would benefit from understanding what happened in Warsaw, Poland during WWII. Excellent acting, super photography and an absolutely beautiful movie. Totally recommend it.
