      The Renegades of Pern. by Anne McCaffrey.

      If you are an Anne McCaffrey fan like me you should read her books in sequence and they then are much easier to follow and are so compelling. this one was so truly amazing. I am and just about to start the next, 'All the Weyrs of Pern' which is the continuation of the saga.
