    I Love Romola

    Interesting story, very wonderfully acted and filmed. I love Romola in these period dramas, she's one of my favorites. However, there is a strong sexual component to this drama that while being relevant to the story, might be a bit too much for a typical "masterpiece theatre" type viewer like me. You will NEVER see this on your local PBS station.....EVER. My girls love Romola too but I could not let 11 & 12 year old girls watch this. It is much more than pretty ladies running around in beautiful dresses. I never realized what a good actor Chris O'Dowd was, he managed give the character a good amount of humanizing humor and irony for which he is well known, yet managed to still make him an unlikeable person.     Very well done. These British films put Hollywood to shame having to rely on great writing and acting rather than a lavish budget or star appeal. Think of this as a darker, grittier Downton Abbey.
