  • Dark & brooding

The bleak landscape with nary a ray of sunlight sets the mood. There is nothing that shines in this movie except Donald Sutherland's performance, and that alone is worth the price of admission. The plot could certainly by tighter and Francine Racine cast as the female lead is, well...mystifying. Not attractive, sexy or compelling, one wonders why on earth any man would be obsessed with her. None the less, the agony of being married to and then left by her, ignites one of Mr. Sutherland's finest performances.
