Holding a bandage and ready to help any wounded Vietnam War soldier, the Hasbro G.I. Joe Vietnam Nurse Classic Collection action figure could be a great addition to any toy collection. This U.S. Army female nurse is dressed in an accurate Vietnam War nurse’s uniform, that is, a khaki-colored two-pocket jacket, t-shirt, cargo pants, boots, and dog-tags. Detailing on her jacket shows “G.I. Joe” lettering above one pocket and “U.S Army” above the other. Her short, cropped brown hair and no-nonsense look portray the nurse as ready for action. The Vietnam Nurse is part of the popular G.I. Joe military action figure “Real American Hero” line offered by Hasbro. The G.I. Joe series of toys has been a part of Hasbro’s action and adventure figure line since 1966. A badge on the plastic cover of the nurse’s packaging commemorates the anniversary of 35 years of G.I. Joe. The label on the package designates this action figure as a “G.I. Joe Classic Collection.” This vintage, highly collectable toy was designed to pay tribute to the approximately 10,000 nurses from America who served in Vietnam during the war. She stands 12 inches tall and is packaged with a variety of medical supplies that she would need to do her job in a war zone. The package contains medical supplies that include two rolls of gauze, a long and a short set of bandages, a stethoscope, and an IV line. The Vietnam Nurse is positioned in the package holding a length of gauze as if she is ready to dress a wound. On the toy’s carton is a photo of four nurses acting as a team to carry a soldier on a litter to safety. Also packaged with the nurse are two extra accessories she would need: a khaki backpack and a wide-brimmed khaki hat. On the reverse side of the packaging is a photo of nurses unloading a patient from a helicopter as well as several paragraphs of information on the Vietnam War and the service of the nurses during the war. The Vietnam Nurse action toy fits into the line of G.I. Joe figures that can continue to be popular collectibles. The Vietnam Nurse action figure is recommended for ages five and up due to the multiple small items included with the figure. The full series of G.I. Joe action figures can often collected by admirers of the toys. Because she is so accurately portrayed, the G.I. Joe Vietnam Nurse could be a great addition to any collection.
