I bought PhilipsDVT7500 not as a musical instrument recorder but as a general sound recorder.
This sound recorder have excellent speaker, that is 2 watt strong. It record and read different kind of sound files, and not every recorder do this. You can, with this recorder, to know exactly where you end your last reading of given file. So, you can stop reading one file and to go to read the next one, knowing where you stay in each of your files. It is handy when you read long books, for instance, and you do not what to stay for few days on the same book. For me this product is the best ever!!! For my linguistic work I bought actually two recorders.
Few negative remarks:
1) You can not change the battery on your own.
2) When you must to go forward in a file (or backward) it do not speed very much. It is problematic when you need to advance quickly in a file long of 10 of hours or more.
very nice build, but zoom and tascam are way ahead in features and. it barely activates my microphones via the add on 48v phantom power caddy. the pre/amps are not up to the job. and it's built in microphone are ok but again let down by the poor pre/amps. ...
