  • At Long Last

I have been waiting such a long time now for this classic movie's move to blu-ray. As expected, the beautiful technicolor is restored to its former glory with a clean sharp picture. Even the DVD version was disappointing but as -with other John Wayne greats such as The Searchers the move to blu-ray gave these movies their much deserved quality improvements. Other great western cinematography classics that deserve this kind of restoration; 1975's Bite The Bullet with Gene Hackman, James Coburn, and Candice Bergman along with 1969's Mackenna's Gold with Gregory Peck, Omar Sharif, Telly Savalas, Camilla Sparv, Keenan Wynn, Julie Newmar, Ted Cassidy, Lee J. Cobb, Burgess Meredith, Anthony Quayle, Edward G. Robinson, Eli Wallach. Both these movies have magnificent cinematography with an equally magnificent cast and story. They just don't make movies like this anymore where the scenery is every bit as much a character (maybe even bigger) as the people or animals in the story. And that's a shame.

  • One of the great classics

Most people know about this wonderful classic movie, so I’ll just make a couple of brief points about the disc itself. The picture quality is outstanding, just as if it had been shot last week and at times it looks almost 3D. The sound is excellent and overall, this is one of the best videos I’ve bought in years.
