Good product and buy but no assembly instructions included.
Once assembled the finished product is a good buy. I did receive one wrong/bad part that necessitated my having to modify it in order to assemble the spreader into working condition, for immediate use. I probably could've contacted the manufacture and procured the correct one but I did not want to lose the time. This, in conjunction with the lack of assembly instructions, is not a huge problem if you have above average mechanical skills and proper tooling at your disposal (I am a licensed Aviation Maintenance Tech with with 34 years experience). If you possess novice mech skills and tools I would caution you on purchasing this item on line.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Needs Better Engineering
Item needs better engineering. #1--The hopper should be a funnel shape to allow all the product to funnel to the bottom discharge outlet. Current design has flat areas to hold product from reaching the bottom. #2--The on/off and selection control device is a very poor design. When you select a discharge number it will not stay in that position. When you use the open/close discharge handle it moves the selector to the highest position. Will not stay in place!!! #3--The agitator pin came out after only 4 bags of fertilizer. It is some where in my yard!!! I used the push pin supplied for the hitch attaching pin which is larger and it worked better. I didn't need the push pin to keep the attaching pin in place because of the good design of the hitch.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good, but has a flaw
I am rating this 3 stars, for the following reason. Bought this unit to replace on older AgriFab model that got crushed from a tree limb during a storm. Easy to assemble and use. I like the small hopper like my old one has, because of the slope in my yard it doesn't turn over like the large hopper unit when fully loaded. This unit doesn't have an agitator on the shaft in the hopper like the old one did, I kept having to unclog the discharge and open the feed wider than normal to spread the product, I have removed the agitator off the old and installed it, works great now using same product. If they would install the agitator they would have a 5 star product.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great for homeowners with a lot of yard!
This spreader is fantastic so far. I bought it because my previous spreader ( also an agrifab) had nylon gearing which did not last beyond a couple of uses. well Made
Well Made with metal gears, and heavy plastic hopper should last for years. It has a notch to hold spreader closed and the spring in the handle holds it open which works well. It was a little smaller than I like but It got the job done just fine, I had to stop and refill more often. Once you start, don't stop
The spreader was easy to put together except for the cotter keys that hold the wheels on. They were not included in my package. My biggest concern is that when you start to fertilize with it, or when you need to stop, you can't shut it off. Product continues to run out of the hopper until you race back to pull the lever down and shut it off. Agri-fab scores another winning product with the 85 lb. capacity tow behind broadcast spreader!
Good for large wide open spaces where spreader flow can be left on. Not good for areas that have obstacles like trees, sidewalks, lamp posts etc. where spreader flow needs to be turned off and on. It is cumbersome to reach back to turn flow off and on and operate the tractor. With a tow behind spreader, you can't see how the material is going on, compared to a walk behind spreader. It's easy to over apply fertilizer and burn the lawn. Spreader settings do not jibe with settings on fertilizer packaging. You have to test the flow on a driveway to check this, then sweep up the material. Pushing a walk behind spreader full of fertilizer has become more difficult as I have gotten older. The Agri-fab tow-behind spreader has made things a lot easier. This is a nice product for the money...built well and it comes in various sizes to fit your lawn care needs.
