Authentic spring reverb better than digital

While this effect is not rackable nor does it have true-bypass switching it offers a very large & sturdy sheetmetal enclosure and great authentic spring reverb sound. I finally settled on this after reviewing and owning a gob of digital reverb pedals some of which are very close to spring reverb at lower settings but all of which fail my "surf guitar" spring reverb sound needs. If you do the research you will find very few digital reverbs will even try to showcase a surf guitar spring setting where you dial in the effect just about as high as you can go. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is there is another real spring reverb effect (the green one with a mermaid on it) that uses an actual long spring tank that is even better (but unfortunately costs around twice what this one does and is even longer of course). While this effect looks sturdy enough to be taken on the road I cannot say that I've done that but it feels tough enough that I would not think twice to use it in a gig. Sound wise this does every spring reverb sound that my Fender amp can do. It does not get me the coveted sound I can get with a Vox Cambridge Reverb Solid State amp from the '60's (made in California) which is so deep and lush it literally sounds like I dropped my guitar in an indoor swimming pool. I've not found anything else that compares to that sound yet but someone needs to come up with another amp with that classic surf reverb sound. All that being said I can use this effect for all my Dick Dale and Surfaris and Ventures sounds and it costs way way less than a Fender tube reverb head and puts any digital reverb I've ever heard to the shame box. Why this effect has been discontinued is beyond me but that's probably because the industry is selling digital reverbs with "ambient" settings to the younger generation who likes that sound better than a classic spring. In summary, I'm glad after years of research that I settled on this as it gets me 98% of what I need at an affordable price. If you like spring reverb this is a solid choice.

    Good for what it is.

While I liked the practical advantage of this analog reverb - the super fun spring which you can make lots of noise with - this pedal seems to be very noisey. Running through my pedal train it has caused a high frequency ringing. Due to this I wouldn't recommend buying one.

  • Really great spring reverb!!!

Like its stated a reverb, not a delay. For what it does it does it really well, ill definitely keep this baby on my board, in fact I'll be splashing it on many other instruments. One thing though, it won't drip on on the tails like it does on longer analog spring reverbs, but you can easily overcome this by double feeding a longer digital spring reverb and blending both, in most cases it will sound better than a traditional spring reverb if you get it right. And the kick effect on this baby makes it worth what it is alone if you're looking for something different. ✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌

  • Great spring reverb pedal

This Danelectro Spring King is awesome! It has a slap back delay sound and a great spring reverb sound that only lacks some bass and drip. Easily mod worthy. With the drip mod and delay eliminated, it really sounds great. Well worth using as is, and fantastic modded.

  • Is exactly what it claims to be. Cool different reverb with unique kick pad feature with a fun sound.

  • Amazing Spring Reverb Pedal

This is a brilliant device with some great mojo. The slap pad is useful, and the sound is great, especially when matched with a great delay like the Catalinbread EchoRec.

  • Great real spring reverb.

Great real spring reverb, it is a one trick pony but does extremely well what it is supposed to do. Definitely recommended if you are looking or a spring reverb and space it is not a problem because this thing is huge !
