In the spring of 1930, individuals from Gujarat, India marched 240 miles/386 km from Ahmedabad to the coastal village of Dandi to protest the British Raj's salt tax. Salt, a necessity for all life, served as a symbol for the problems with British rule over India. The Salt of Spring follows the story of Asha and her family as they carry out civil disobedience in India.
