    Works for the purpose for which I bought it

    I bought this to play some old tapes I found, after I had sold the camera I took them with. It works fine for the playback. I have not tried actually recording videos yet, or discovered how good the battery is. But it works fine for the playback. It took a while to figure out how to use the controls, which were different from the old Canon I had, and not so intuitive. The camera is smaller and lighter than the old one, which is a nice feature.

    ZR800. Excellent camcorder by Canon

    Good: video and audio quality. Easy to hold, decent battery life. Best: it has a view finder and you do not need to rely on the LCD screen which means: you can see what you are filming on sunny days, and it uses less power. Bad: it uses mini DV tapes which are getting harder to find, i.e. most stores do not carry them anymore. The tapes are fine, just not as plentiful as in the old days. Yes, I would buy another.

    Reliable unit.

    Handy to have in my Video Lab to convert Mini DV tapes that were recorded on Canon Camcorders. Many of us in the industry are familiar with the 'Canon Audio Incompatibility' issue, when SOME Canon recordings won't play back on other machines properly... audio is nothing but crackling and static. This little camcorder comes to my rescue time and time again. P.S. I have 4 of them to handle larger orders.
