A mysterious fog has enveloped Egypt and gamers must control and expand their mythical empire in preparation for barbarian attacks. A mixture of empire-building strategy and puzzle solving, Oasis requires that players strike a strategic balance of city defense, weapon development, and population growth. Exploration is handled by mouse-clicking on shaded areas of the map, but gamers must decide if it is best to build connecting roads, unearth technology from mountain caves, or explore sections of the desert on a search for the mystical Glyphs of Power. Players must choose their moves wisely because the barbarians attack when all the clicks are gone. There are 35 levels in all, with ten tutorial modes, and a unique level generator provides expanded gameplay.

An Addictive Classic
I've spent a lot of time playing this game in the past, to the point where I needed to delete it from my machine so I could do other things. But when I wanted to play it again, the download site where I'd purchased it was no longer functional. It was well worth a few bucks to get a CD copy of the game so now I can play it in perpetuity. I'm also glad to see that, unlike some games from that era, I don't need to keep the CD in the computer's drive in order to play the game: that's important, because I'm playing it on a laptop that doesn't have a built-in CD: I had to install it from an external USB CD drive. My only disappointment is that the game doesn't display full-screen on my laptop, as if it wasn't coded in such a way to handle modern screen resolutions. I can still see well enough to ... total waste
this game would be bad back in 1995, its like a poor version of mine sweepers, no animation to speak of, no role playing little stragety, after 10 min of tutorial i played game on expert mode and completed it within an hour the whole game is a waste of time
