The fact is that so long as a pen is of decent quality, they all write pretty similarly if one uses the same ink and the same paper. This is a $5 or $6 copy of a pen made in Germany which is sold for something like $800 US. The only advantage of the German pen over the Chinese one is the word 'Montblanc'. I will make you a gift of that word. Here, now it's yours and you can put it on your Jinhao or wherever you like. Put it on your toaster, on your girlfriend, on the hill behind your house. If you like a heavy solid fountain pen, this is the one for you. You may have skipped over the condition I made at the beginning. The quality of any fountain pen (assuming it is not outright defective) is almost entirely a matter of the ink and paper you use it with. Unlike fountain pens, fountain pen inks are quite variable in flow, drying time, opacity, color consistency, color tone, waterproofness and so on. If you want a large heavy solid fountain pen, you have found it. Jinhao has recently introduced different colors. I use them to keep track of what ink is in each one just by looking at the pen. If you want a big heavy solid fountain pen and are reading this, your pen shopping is pretty much done. However, if you take my advice, your shopping for an ink that you like has just begun. There is a small American company Back East (eastern US) somewhere that sells collections of ink samples. These are worth getting. You will definitely not like all of them but you may well like some of them. It is a good place to start. There are dozens of inks to try. Read as many ink reviews as you can find but bear in mind that you may find that after you try the ink yourself, you may not agree. Finding a satisfactory ink is much more important if you are left-handed and write in a left to right language like the European languages because if your ink does not dry quickly it will smear all over your page and your hand. In right to left languages like Hebrew and Arabic, the problem is for right-handers. I have no experience writing vertical Asian languages so I cannot venture an opinion but I am sure there are problems there too. Life is like that. Here I veer from pen review to personal propaganda. If you are reading this you use a computer and are familiar with email. But since you are shopping for a pen, you have not given up on pen-and-ink. Keep the tradition alive by writing and sending a letter on paper to your mother today. Or to anyone else you care about. She would love to hear from you. A handwritten letter is endlessly more personal and human than even the best-written of emails. Write a letter a week. It doesn't matter what you say. The fact that you cared enough to write and send the letter is the message it will convey. Do it now.Read full review

These pens are definitely a "cigar" pen. They are very large, beautiful colors and the best part is the JinHao nib. They write beautifully. A nice wet line and very smooth. Definitely worth a try if you haven't yet. They get great reviews on the Fountain Pen Network.

I was skeptical about the quality of a fountain pen at such a great price but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pen. Have been using it since purchased and no complaints.

If you like a big pen then this is for you. Fits great in my hand and writes great. I love this color as well.

I'm very happy with the pen. It's practically the only pen I don't have to prime if it hasn't been used for a couple of days. Fine writing instrument.
