I am a 30+ year guitar player/teacher and tech. I do all my own work from strings to frets and all the electronics.... Like most electric players I have a fond spot for Floyd Rose systems on my guitars.... Until I have to work on them... Like setting intonation for example is a nightmare and time consuming beyond comprehension..... This little guy here locks under the bridge and pins to the saddle and I can set-up a entire guitar to dead-on intonation in 30 min compared to 3+ hours without it..... If you think about it- this tool pays for itself and then some the first time you use it in lieu of taking it to a shop for the job. There are links on youtube on how to use it properly and it is so easy you will actually enjoy setting up your own guitars and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself and removing the "mystery" of the Floyd.... The more you can do accurately to your gear the better rounded player you will be. A good tuner is all you need. I use a Peterson Strobe but really any good tuner will work and it will be fine in alternate tunings too such as a dedicated "Drop D" This little critter is in every case that has a Floyd on it.... And to boot I have guys dropping off guitars for a setup that puts $100.00 in my pocket for 30 min of work strings, neck, clean the pots, set the bridge, lube the pivots and polish it.... I can pocket 1500.00 a day and this makes it possible and removes all the drama and swearing when you try it without one..... Best money you can spend- Honest......Read full review

This is one of the early versions with the hardened steel knurled adjustment knob so it will move the saddle both forward and backward without loosening the string. The plastic knobs on the newer ones will strip and break if the string isn't loosened first. Also the body of the early versions have a better grade of steel and the tips don't break off like the newer potmetal ones. When they revised the design with cheaper metals and plastics these became a worthless piece of junk. This one will last many years and be very useful. Don't waste your money on the newer ones with the plastic knobs. When one of these with the steel knurled knob does come up for sale it's worth the money even if it's more than the plastic junk ones. Good Luck in finding one as most smart guitarists keep theirs.

I owned and operated a guitar store for almost 10 years. I "specialized" in guitars with double locking tremolos, specifically the Original Floyd Rose, which I consider the very best. This tool, is THE ONLY way I will work on getting one set up. takes a very difficult tedious process and makes it much much more manageable.

Works only on " original" style Floyd Rose tremolos: original, FR1000 and specials. Other Floyd designs and non- Floyd designs are out of luck. Absolutely nails the intonation at playing tension. A bit of a learning curve, but once you figure it out, no problem.
