Centuries of fighting vampires left Nicolas De La Cruz ready to meet the dawn (end his existence) after completing one more task for his family, his prince and his people. With his darkness close, he finally heard the voice that could save him and his soul, as Lara Calladine stabbed a knife in his side to get him off her. She had come to the Carpathian Mountains to finally deal with her childhood nightmares and find the only family she ever knew. The Aunts had always been there telling her stories, teaching her and then helping her to escape. Finding so many of their stories to be true, including that of the lifemate, Lara struggled to trust Nicolas and fight her past nightmares. Book 19 ….. ***** Just say Wow! Was the Curse his or hers? The elements and layers of this series are getting more complex, the addition of so many with Mage influence opens the door for such great sorcerers stories. As always, the characters are so easy to care about, the interactions with the other Carpathians are exciting and the fall of Nicolas’s ego was nicely done. This is (in my opinion) the darkest of the series with the abuse that Lara remembers and the fear that she has of people and things. The questions are stating to have answers for the Carpathian people and that is one of the best parts of a series, you become (almost) invested in their lives. More bonus, and appendix with the Healing Chants and information about the Carpathian language. I am looking forward to the next novel (due out September 2009). I don’t want to wait, but obviously I will.Read full review
Nicholas De La Cruz finds his lifemate in the nick of time, even as something in him wants to turn. Lara feels her birthmark burn, the sign a vampire is close, but the only one there is Nicholas. He bites her, she stabs him, then he sees her and is 'saved' so that her birthmark ceases to burn--surprise! He immediately says the ritual words to bind them together, but doesn't stop his blood from flowing out of his side until she chooses life for him. She says: "You deserve to die just for being stupid." This story, with its extra dark mage aspect, would have been very heavy without the fun of humor and teasing that runs through it. There is the contract between Nicholas thinking men protect women at all times. We see couples like Vikirnoff and Natalya who fight together (remember she is his warrior woman), and then we have a scene where the fight for the lives of the children is waged by the women. This book has it all!Read full review
Christine's books are unique in that you don't have to read them in order. Each book gives you just enough background to understand what has happened previously without giving away the storylines of each individual book. I've been a Christine Feehan fan for over 8 years and look forward to future issues of her "Dark Series". I find it very hard to put one of her books down once I've started it. Everytime I think I have the book figured out there is another twist. I guess you could consider them one part romance, one part paranormal, one part mystery, one part action and one part thriller. Mix them all together and you have a great book tht you will enjoy from beginning to end.
Dark Curse is a positively addictive Book! This book has everything...Action, Mystery, Magic and Super Hot Sex! A MUST READ! I really enjoyed the story of Lara and Nicholas. This book left some loose ends that lead me to believe there will be another book to finish the tale of Lara & Nicholas. A lot of the Previous Carpathian People were here too. I have loved all the Dark Books By Christine Feehan.I am waiting for the next one! I do recommend you read these books in order as this story line continues from book to book. Check my Guides for the READING ORDER!
Always wanted to have Hard Cover books that I read and love by Feehan. Will continue to look for others.
