Heirs to the Throne is a fantasy war game with strategic elements of economic control and military conquest. The game accommodates up to four players, human or computer controlled. The objective in Heirs to the Throne is for the player to control one of four barons and ultimately conquer an entire continent one village at a time and reign supreme over all foes and provinces. Competition for the crown is between the four Barons (human or computer control) and computer controlled Royalists. The game is turn-based and action is carried out through several phases for both Barons and Royalists. Four different soldier types are available for combat, each with individual strengths and weaknesses. Game play requires both offensive and defensive tactics as well as resource management. The interface in Heirs to the Throne is completely mouse driven with some equivalent keyboard commands.
