    Excellent read

Fantastic truthful book, written exactly how a Romani would speak so if you have been around Romanis it is easy to get into the dialect of the author and the hardships and constant struggles they still face today.

    Draws you in

The quality of writing leaves a little to be desired, but Maggie Smith-Bendell's skill lies in her ability to tell the stories of her youth that bit by bit draw you into the traveller world. Having grown up a few years after she did and with family friends that were travellers, I thought I knew about their lives, but I learnt so much more. But by the time I had finished reading I realised the struggles faced by the modern day travelling community in this over-populated island and that predjudice, intentional or not, comes from both sides. What became the most apparent was the passing of an era and how all of us, travellers or no, are so far removed from nature now that we have lost so much.
