About this product

Product Information

This updated and re-imagined version of the classic 1970s sci-fi television show BATTLESTAR GALACTICA combines elements of STAR TREK, STAR WARS, and THE TERMINATOR. Human beings built the android Cylons to work as servants for them, only to have the robots rebel and disappear into space. A generation later, however, the Cylons returned to destroy their former masters, and succeeded in eliminating the 12 worlds that mankind inhabited. Luckily, one group of people has managed to escape the genocide, led by Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos), on board the massive space ship called Battlestar Galactica. But the struggle isn't over, as the ruthless Cylons continue to pursue the ship and the last surviving members of the human race. This vision of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA features a darker tone and CGI special effects, and shares with other science fiction sagas a warning about the misuse of advanced technology. This collection includes episodes 1-10 of the second season.

    Entertaining

An engaging series, yet lacks originality. Another Si-fi story of Machines/A.I. vs. humans that has been the subject for the past 30 years (Terminator, Person of Interest, Agebts of S.H.I.E.L.D. etc). Some episodes appear to be "fillers" -- but always have a seed of progression of the "search" for their destination. Nothing to deep -- just fun.

  • Better than Season 1

As has been pointed out several times, "Season 2.0" is only HALF of Season 2. Sci-Fi programmed a 3-month hiatus into the schedule so the final 10 episodes that aired beginning in 1/6/06. If you just have to have this as an Xmas gift, by all means do so; you'll enjoy the midseason cliffhanger as much as the rest of us. It'll probably be cheaper to buy the for a complete Season 2.5 volume, however and there may be added bonus features. "Season 2.0" is a bit of misnomer even discounting it's only the first 10 episodes of Season 2. Sci-Fi didn't pay for a full Season 1 so some of the plot threads from that aren't tied up until Season 2 Episode 5. In effect what you have are the final 5 episodes of Season 1 plus just *5* episodes of Season 2. However it all works out in some bizarre ...

  • Galactic Review

I purchased Battlestar Galactica a number of weeks ago and have since watched the 3-dvd set in its entirety. I liked the re-cap that each episode did at the beginning, which helped new viewers such as myself, transition into the series. Never having watched the original series but being a fan of sci-fi, the stories were decent and well written and the space scenes were excellent with very interesting camera effects. I liked the fact that the set was a "slim" case DVD set, which helps take up less room on my shelf. My main and only complaint is the fact that this DVD set only covers the first half of the second season and you are left hanging for the conclusion of the final DVD episode. Nowhere on the DVD box or the DVDs themselves does it state this fact, I had to find this out when ...

  • Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 - Great Product!

I am a huge Battlestar Galactica fan. Basically if you like the show you're going to like the DVD. I considered buying it new in stores but it was so expensive, like fifty-five dollars on average. I bought a used copy for around twenty-five at a local store, but you can get a good deal on a used copy on Ebay, too. It IS season 2.0, so it only has the first half of the season. (The second half hasn't been released on DVD yet.)The DVD also includes the podcasts, commentary about the episodes by Ronald D. Moore, for most of the episodes. It also has deleted scenes from almost all the episodes, which I really like because you can learn extra stuff about the characters that you didn't necesarily get in the show. For example, there's this one deleted scene in "Valley of Darkness" where you ...

  • Fracking A

The second war against the Cylons is over and The Twelve Colonies have been destroyed. Now Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galatica and President Laura Roslin lead a ragtag fleet of refugees in a supposed search for the fabled lost thirteenth colony, Earth. However, the dangers they face are many which compound an already difficult situation. In addition to The Cylons hunting and attacking the fleet in space; their infiltrator units carry out a more subtle plot even as their former unwitting pawn, Gaius Baltar, helps in the hunt for them while hiding both his own guilt and the strange presence that haunts his every thought. If that wasn't enough, the fleet also faces internal political conflict of which the rabble rousing figure Tom Zarek is merely the loudest dissenting voice. In the ...
