When I received this camshaft for my Craftsman LT2000 grass mowing machine, I knew right away it was going to be a long, love affair. Just looking at the curves on these lobes tell me I will be getting full lift at my valves for full bore power when I'm bogged down in that deep grass!!! This thing fell right in place and went straight to work doing what it does best, opening and closing my valves. Can't beat that with a stick! Highly recommend for full power renewal, during that winter rebuild.

It's just a poorly engineered product. It didn't even last 2 mowings and I need another one. Its not the sellers fault. It is Briggs and Stratton problem. We have 2 mowers and both need camshaft replacements before oil changes.

The first start after rebuild was without issue. Shutting off the hot oiled motor presented issues with the release mechanism not functioning. New oil, gaskets, balanced shaft throughout, good condition and clean housing throughout. A cool engine starts everytime (spring composition maybe???). This Briggs & Stratton brand has it's issues with the release mechanism. Have to oil up the compartment, then clean the closure area, manually prime the sump, and change the oil after ~10 hours run time. The release mech is a very bad design; either material or profile spec. My motor runs great after start up, however, I can tell that the release mech is sticking in place after a long motor run with immediate restart. Have to manually teeter the flywheel with hot motor shut off to get the release into position. 'model 31' valves@0.004in; 0.006out. Picture is of the replaced cam.Read full review

Nothing like installing an OEM part in a engine. Yeah, I could have gone with a generic part for pennies cheaper but taking the time to remove and tare down an engine to install it gives me assurance knowing that this internal engine part will have excellent fitment and performance after repair completion.

If you have a lawn tractor that is a hard start, you just might need a new camshaft because the compression relief part of the camshaft has failed. It is not a project for the timid but if your mechanically inclined you can do it.

because it works. I bought a cheaper cam from china, Didn't like the looks of it, but installed it any way. I got about 6 starts with it then it broke. So i ordered this cam as original replacement, three times the price of the china part. I didn't like the looks of it either because it was machined and not cast like the original, But the starting cam looked thicker so round 2. It has now started about 25 times, so far so good. Get what you pay for i guess.

Great part for a Briggs engine rebuild. About 1/3 the cost of a new OEM camshaft. The Craftsman tractor is running like a champ again! Thanks for your help!!

Went well with installation. Fit was good. Corrected starting problem. Jury still out as to durability but so far so good. Ran engine approximately 1 1/2 hours since installed.

Low price, good value. New lifters and base gasket included. This camshaft also works with engines that have an oil pump.
