Watched plenty of YouTube comparison video re this unit. It is a very efficient and so far reliable controler. I have added it to my Atem DC-DC MPPT setup in my van. The Solar side of the DC-DC controller doesn't kick in until the panel gets to 17v. This controller kicks in at 14v.. It also allows concurrent charging from solar and car DC at the same time... which again the Atem DC-DC controllers dont do...All of these features SHOULD be part of the Atem DC-DC controllers.

Seems to be doing the job ok however would like some answers as to what the fault / issue may have been.
It is well priced and easy install. Has been fitted for several weeks but only had the solar panels out in the sun for two days, was working fine however today the battery status lights were running back and forwards from full charge to no charge. On checking the battery was still at full charge, not sure what was going on, searched the internet for more fault finders but with no result. I then unplugged the solar panels for a an hour or so then plugged the solar panel back on and has been working ok since. Would like some help or advice as to what may have caused this as I do not want to damage the battery or the regulator.It is well priced and easy install. Quality budget regulator for lead acid batteries.
I bought this Charge controller accidentally, instead of the next model up which has selectable battery chemistry, to charge a LiFePO4 Battery. I was surprised with its efficiency. It pushes a higher current into the battery than is coming in from the solar panels, over 20%. As confirmed using 2 identical power meters. Far better than the cheapo PWM regulators which waste precious energy generated by the panels. It charges my LiFePO4 Battery no worries, but its charging profile is better suited to lead acid / AGM batteries. In my experience Atempower is a quality Brand at a reasonable price, even their solar panels deliver the rated energy, unlike most sold online.I bought this Charge controller accidentally, instead of the next model up which has selectable battery chemistry, to charge a LiFePO4 Battery. A unit that does what is suppose to do.
I have been building my own Battery Boxes for a while now. Depending on the application I install a MTTP controller. This ATEM controller is the best I have found. Very simple. Good connectors and a heat sink. (A heat sink is very important) It handles a small 20W panel to 120W. no problems. My testing shows it does get a better charge than others I have used. If "eco-Worthy" is a 1 this little jem is a 10. I will choose this controller every time I am asked to build a system. There are way to many "yum char" units on the market. Sold by people that just want to move product. I am so happy I have found this controller sold by people that actually know the product. I have been building my own Battery Boxes for a while now.
