The item got to me. It was in a plastic bag, stamped & shiped. When I received it, the point of the thermometer was sticking out a little bit. My first thought was, 'I wonder how mant postal workers were stuck with the sharp end of this thing. I then checked it for blood; I will be steralising it before it touches my brew, that's for sure. The other end had some flimsy piece of plasic stuck to it, it would not have protected the glass face from anything. It was lucky the face wasn't broken
