  • A Great Mini Series

I remember watching both this and it’s sequel War and remembrance when they first were on tv in the 80s. And remembered how good they were and couldn’t wait to see them again. So was glad to be able to find this and buy it. The series, as well as its companion series War and Remembrance , is an absolute compelling journey into history. The depth and scope of this story and the characters really defy description It is true commitment to watch the whole series but worth the investment of time. I highly recommend it.

  • I bought a second set this one VHS, big mistake only first two played. correctly.A historical masterpiece.

If you did not live through WW2, as I did, you will never truly know what it was really about. The story line is a bit of fluff for most of the featured family but one cannot overlook the little things that really happened both leading up to our entry into the war and to the things that eventually led to our Victory. It shows Patton for the war monger he was. The graphics are real...however much they edited them, they will still almost make you sick. I recommend you get Both Winds of War and War and Rememberance. You will never regret it.

  • Winds of War (1989) VHS seven tape series

I had wanted to buy this video series for many years, but the price was always prohibitive. Recently I saw it on listed on Ebay shopping. The price for the used set was $60, however it said that I could make an offer. It seemed to be a long shot, but I decided I would offer $25. A few hours later I received a notice that my offer had been accepted. A few days later the video arrived safely at our home and we found it to be excellent. The video deals with the years preceeding World War II---the rise of Hitler to power and takes you through the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The entire series is about a navy family and by the end of the series, you feel like they have become your very close friends. The series lacks nothing. We already owned the 'War and Remembrance' series which is the ...
