these stepped drill bits are great, though it is easy to go too far if not careful. I have been using them during a car restoration and they have been flawless. I would say that it is best to have a good marking/centre punch and/or drilling a small pilot hole as I have had to get one reground/sharpened already. I feel these would be much more suited to light duty work such as plastics and light aluminium, not sheet steel in old cars.
