Product Information

In Young WAAF Hitchhiker's Guide to England, hitchhiker and author, Elizabeth Hutchings, takes the reader though her diaries from the period of 1949, when she did a considerable amount of hitchhiking around England. In her own description of the time, Elizabeth says, 'Every moment that I was seeing England by hitchhiking, I felt really alive and free. Item as described, good price, well packaged, arrived slightly later than hoped (not in time for Christmas ) but the order was placed in a very busy shipping period. No issue with the seller’s speed of response and sending the item. Great seller!

Great seller with great communication! Item arrived complete, as described and for a good price. There was a bit of an issue with tracking the order at one point (not the seller's fault), but seller was proactive in reaching out to the carrier and myself to get everything back on track. Arrived when expected.

  • Great Book Highlights a Time of Optimism and Hope in Britain after WW II

The author is fully engaged when sharing her hitch hiking journeys in the immediate post war days of England. There is an infectious optimism in her writing and wonderful descriptions of the English country side of that time. I wish I knew more about the specific countryside she explored but her prose carries the day in describing the places she is visiting. The book is an uplifting experience to read and enjoy on a quiet evening or a beach vedge. Recommended to all who cherish the human sprit and its ability to find adventure along the open road.
