About this product

Product Information

James Qwilleran and his famous felines, Koko and Yum Yum, are back for another mystery-solving stint in the beloved bestselling Cat Who . . . series. In Qwill's opinion, "A town without a bookstore is like a chicken with one leg," and since the late Eddington Smith's bookstore burned down, the town of Pickax has been somewhat off balance. To the rescue comes the Klingenschoen Foundation, manager of Qwill's estate, which considers a new bookstore a worthy investment. Delighted by their good fortune, the people of Moose County prepare to celebrate the gala groundbreaking of the store on the site of the old. But no one is prepared for the discovery of the body of a man shot execution style in a wooded area on the very same day. Now Qwill and his clever cats have their work cut out for them.

  • The Cat Who~~~~ HARDCOVER 2004

I'm not sure Ms. Braun is writting her own books anymore. The earlier novels were great...lots of adventure that involved Qwill and the cats, Koko and Yum Yum, but now the stories have become more bland....that shouldn't happen. If anything, they should become better over time. This was not one of Ms. Braun's best stories. It left us dangling on a lot of questions, but you read on because it now is more about the people who live in Moose County and their day to day lives. Like a soap opera, but without the sex. Speaking of which, Polly and Qwill seem so squeaky clean in their relationship after all these years it makes one wonder? Do they even kiss? This 26th book is about the town of Brr celebrating its bicentennial and Qwill has been roped into covering the festivities. The ...

  • Excellent copy of a good book

I love Lilian Jackson Braun and this book was wanted to replace another copy that was not of good quality. This book looks like new. The dust jacket was perfect. There were no writing or smudges on the pages and the spine was in new condition. This book was obviously never read. This is a perfect addition to my LJB collection.

  • Cat who Talked Turkey a disappointing read for fans

Like: Compared to "Cat who brought down the house", this book was slightly better. This series used to be a highly witty, entertaining read..until the publication of the Cat who Went up a Creek. Starting with 'Creek', the books started becoming weaker and weaker in 'mystery', often spending 1/4 of the book 'introducing' Jim Qwilleran to readers. They have all recently been geared towards new readers, seemingly. Dislike: Concentrated on day to day life of Mr. Q, and the murder mystery plot seemed buried. Every once in a chapter a mention would be made to the 'mysterious man who was murdered on Mr. Q's property', but the plot was never developed. Instead, the book seemed more like a summary of all the previous books...every time a character stepped into the book (Arch Riker comes ...

  • The Cat Who Talked Turkey by Lilian Jackson Braun

I am trying to collect all The Cat Who books by Lilian Jackson Braun. I enjoy Reading about James Qwilleran, and other members of the Pickax City, that live 400 miles miles north of everywhere. Each book makes me want to visit this ficitonal town and meet the interesting people that live there. I am not a cat lover but I enjoy the antics of Koko and Yum Yum. Qwilleran's two Siamese cats. Ms Braun's writing style is comforting. Even when a bad deed is done the goodness of Qwilleran and his friends is always there. I hope to buy and collect all "The Cat Who" books by Lilian Jackson Braun. I want to read the history, in the order they were written, to see how the different people have grown and matured, just like real life.
