Package arrived well packaged. Very well actually. No visiblendamage to the box. I put the item aside as several other items arrived, and I wasn't going to be using it soon. When I opened it a few weeks later and removed the item from the box it was in pieces. I contacted trainz and they told me too bad, beyond the window of help. I understand this, but either way the sent a used and smashed item they listed as good. Given the description of new I wasn't in a hurry to check it. I'll avoid them.

I have purchased 8 of these so far
I have broke of wore out quite a few of these starter systems because I didn't follow the recommendations per the manufacturer of the product such as: Don't let water or debris come in contact with the motor on the starter( dud this when washing the mud off of the R/C) If the r/c was not tuned correctly I would hold down the starter button for 30 -40 seconds at a time while turning the Air / Fuel mixture screws and it would sometimes take up to three times to do. ( Instructions specifically tell you to only do 1-2 second bursts when trying to start your r/c.
