  • A true Elton fan should have this cd

I have been a fan of Elton since Yellow brick road, I had all his albums, and have been trying to replace them with cds. I have not found Leather Jackets in stores and was not sure it was on cd. It is one of my favorites of Elton's although it came and went without much notice, he had a hit with Nikita the year before, but failed to follow up with this album. My favorite cut is Paris, but also the title track, Hoop of fire, Gypsy heart, Angeline, and I fall apart are all good cuts, and make it a great album.

  • "Better than everyone - even Elton - thinks it is."

It routinely winds up at the top of "Worst Elton John Album" lists all over the world, but I've never thought that. I've always enjoyed LEATHER JACKETS to pieces. The fun of songs like the hard-hitting "Go It Alone," the 50's/80's mash-up of the title track are melodically irresistible. In this sense, the lead single, "Heartache All Over The World" should have done a lot better on the charts in the U.S. and U.K than it did. Meanwhile, I can't think of an EJ album that has more of Elton's atmospheric ballads than this one: "Gypsy Heart," "I Fall Apart," "Paris," and "Hoop Of Fire." And no one seems to have love for "Angeline," but its tongue-in-cheek misogyny is harmless amusement. The only real misstep is "Don't Trust That Woman," wth God-awful lyrics by Cher, saved (barely) by Elton's ...

  • Leather Jackets

I am trying to collect all of Elton John's works. Not one of his strongest efforts, but I needed it to complete the collection.
