Whether or not you are personally familiar with Daphne Du Maurier, she has authored some very special dramas, sold warehouses FULL of books, short stories, novellas. " Don't Look Now ", is a very special drama, of startling crisis, recovery, heartbreak, personal recognition of shining success, and crushing failure. This is a story of a married couple, who have incurred a recent loss, and meet a proverbial fork in the road. Donald Sutherland, and Julie Christie, portray two people who are in love, with each other, and life. Their loss of Christine, brings them to events that are not so easily explained. Soon, the Supernatural events that seem to be edging in on them, seem to be driving them toward an Encounter, that shall have explosive consequences in their lives. This is a FIVE STAR motion picture, Directed, and executed by a fabulous film-maker, Mr. Nicholas Roeg, who is constantly "wowing " us with his sense of drama, and his sense of timing. Now. See a very different movie, with a splendid score, by Maestro Pino Doggio. Expect the unexpected, here. Thanks ! Dr. H. E. Sawyer, Jr. Manhattan, NY 10019Read full review

On my list of 50 favorite films, it's at or near the top of its genre. Roeg's use of color and imagery to weave together a subtle psychological horror story is nothing short of brilliant, and he brings two their finest performances from two of the finest actors of their generation - Sutherland and Christie. And yes - it contains a truly classic erotic scene between the two principals. It's not a thrill-a-minute spectacle by any means - but a truly beautifully made film about real people made extraordinary in their love and their grief.
In this movie, Don't Look Now, British parents of a drowned child go to Venice and meet a blind psychic and her sister. They are trying to move on with their life, but it is very difficult. The couple meet two sisters in a cafe, one blind and a psychic, who tells them their daughter is ''happy'' in her new world. Laura is comforted by this, but John scoffs, but is haunted by visions of a small figure darting around the canals, dressed in the same red rain coat his daughter used to wear.
I saw this movie as a kid and always thought it was scary. Not so much now. But so many good memories. 👍🏼

I saw this movie on Bravo's 100 Greatest Horror Moments about 3 years ago. I recently ordered it from half.com. I was impressed with Donald Sutherland's acting; this was the first movie I've ever seen him in. I liked the gross little midget thing, and I loved the creepy ESP twins, especially the blind one. This movie is a classic 70s thriller/horror. Lovely scenery and filming in Italy. Rome, I think. Worth watching and owning.
