    Enables Full APC Back-UPS Support on a PC

    I purchased (from another source) a refurbished APC Back-UPS 550 which did not come with a data signaling cable. I was therefore not able to turn on automatic graceful shutdown of my Windows 10 PC if AC power failed. This cable worked PERFECTLY. After connecting it to the Back-UPS and my PC, Windows 10 immediately recognized the uninterruptible power supply was present and placed an icon in the Notification Area showing "100% charged". For even better monitoring and control, I installed APC's PowerChute Personal Edition. The application replaces native Windows 10 power support to show more details (such as UPS model, serial#, and remaining runtime) while still supporting control of how long to wait before shutting down after AC power is lost and what types of notification to display. ...

    Lost my original, a good replacement for my UPS.

    Some older APC UPS systems use a serial connection with an Ethernet jack on the UPS side. This cable allows me to plug the UPS into the computer to monitor the device and reset the battery change date as needed.
