Having known about this amazing lady for years, it was a revelation to see this movie. Her story was handled with incredible sensitivity and the acting was above expectation. In no way was there a jarring moment in the movie. I can only recommend this film to everyone who loves opera and can understand the great desire to excel in something you love, when noone close to you wants to hurt your feelings. Her enormous wealth made it possible to have everything she desired with a husband who made sure she got it. I loved the film and applaud the handling of Florence's story, TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION.Having known about this amazing lady for years, it was a revelation to see this movie. This is the true story of a terminally ill singer that can't quite sing, but thinks she can. She is just "off" most notes, but with the best tutoring, and her supportive husband, her piano player, and her belief in herself she gets there. Her audiences love her, though many laugh, but all are wowed. It's a touching, well directed movie, with Meryl Streep superb in this role. A surprise comical overtone movie.
This movie was purchased so as to send to a relative, we already had a copy. Meryl Streep does again an amazing job of charachter portrayal, such an interesting story, and laugh out loud moments. A really good movie, just loved it.

I enjoyed this movie so much that I laughed even more the second time I watched it. wonderful story, wonderful customs and period styling in every aspect of the movie, Would be above the heads of kids but from say 12 or so on they would 'get it', the irony the brilliant singing!!! etc etc
