You'll notice that it's missing the bottom cover, but is otherwise intact. The display is legible, but looks like it may need to be replaced sooner than later. The transceiver works well with full power out and great RX.

Japanese ham transceivers not for USA Market
Problem is this FT-897D is strictly for Japanese Market. The 160, 80, 60, 40 meter bands only transmit outside USA licensed frequency allocations. Radio will not tune above 145.000 in 2 meter band, not above 430.00 in 70 cm band. Reconfiguring these frequency restrictions is a monumental task since FCC prohibits Yaesu Support to modify these Japanese variants to the USA Ham Market. Pity since this is an exception portable transceiver.
