Went to see Marty Stuart in Dublin Feb 2011. I was bowled over by everything that evening - the music, the sound, the musicianship of the band and the sincerity of Marty Stuart himself. He and the band spent an hour and a half afterwards making sure everyone got whatever they were after - photos, autographs or just the chance to shake his hand.My friend even got him to sign his B-Bender Tele! If we ever needed someone to take the baton from Johnny Cash and run with it to promote everything that is good in country music today, then he is the man! I had a few of his CDs, but since returning, I have bought a lot more! Add to that, this book and another of his photo/journals - Pilgrims,Sinners,Saints, and Prophets - and I have to say that the books are even better than the CDs! In them we get to have a peek at life in country music through Marty stuart's eyes. The photos are not of the greatest quality, but they more than make up for that in their soul - snapshots from north south east and west and beyond! If you are wondering whether to buy or not - don't hesitate - send for it today. If you don't like it give me a call and I may even buy it from you!!Read full review
When I purchased this heavy, coffee table book, I bought it for one reason. I know Marty Stuart. I met him when I was 17 years old and he was 14. I worked with his Mother, Hilda at a bank in Middle Tennessee. I didn't expect to actually enjoy the book as much as I have. It is thoroughly engrossing, and contains some outstanding photograpy. The book pays homage to the icons of country music through pictures, and there are some great ones(pictures and icons). If you don't know a lot about country music personalities, this is a great introduction. If you don't care to know, don't buy it.
The book was priced insanely well, which was what initially caught my attention. I purchased it, and received it in a very short amount of time. The book itself is a treasure. I'd read reviews before about how other people's copies didn't include a table of contents or show names of people on each page. Mine did in fact. Each person, artifact and scene had a clear description on the bottom of the page. Great buy!
this book is put together very well, pictures are wonderful is exceptional, marty stuart has done a fantastic job trying to preserve the history of country music, the cd in the book is a nice add,he has captured singers and musicians at their best,a tribute to some of our greatest. this book is worth what you pay for and will make a great add to your library and a wonderful item to pass on to your family
The book is great for the fan of Classic (Traditional ) Country Music ! It shows memories from the past that somehow get renewed again. The book has excellant photography and the cd included with the book is excellant it explains alot of the pictures and what they meant . I commend Marty Stuart for his efforts in trying to keep the Traditional Country music alive today . Thank-You
I liked the pictures but there was not a lot of information in the book about the people. Also there was not any pictures of Marty . I was thinking that it was a history picture book but its not. Good pictures and will make a good table book.
I love this book,it has all my favorite country music stars to read about and their pictures. Great book.
