About this product

Product Information

This zoom lens was exclusively designed for use with digital Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras and has a 6.9:1 zoom ratio. The image circle is designed to match the size of the image sensor of digital SLR cameras. From wide angle to telephoto, this new zoom lens can capture a wide range of subjects. As there is no need to change lenses, there is no risk of missing those great shots. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 50cm (19.6in.) at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification of 1:5.3. A distance scale on the focus ring makes the lens convenient and easy to use.Sigma's vast experience has been gained over many years in the development of advanced optical technology and film camera production. This experience was crucial to the development of the SD9 and SD10 digital SLR cameras. Sigma took digital characteristics into consideration when designing the lens power layout and created the most suitable lens.

  • Sigma Lens

I am just an average guy who happens to enjoy photography. I bought this lens which is a Sigma 18-125mm f3.5/5.6 for the reason of decreasing my lens change in the field, as I was using a 28-80. I find I get more sky when shooting lightening and for those times I need to be a little closer I can also do that. The lens itself takes beautiful photos. I do however continue to look for a newer camera. So from my point of view if your looking for an great all around lens, to me this is it.

  • Great lens for the price

I figure that if Canon's going to put out a near-identical lens this fall, it means someone's doing something right. I've had the OS and non-OS versions of this lens and loved them both. Solid build, easy zooming. Focus can be a bit noisy, but not too bad. OS is longer-running per use than Canon's IS, but if there's significant battery drain, I can't find it. Lens is more than sharp enough for my purposes. I would recommend looking for ones selling in the $300 to $350 range new. Over $400, and you might as well consider a Nikon or Canon equivalent.

  • Amazing Sigma lens.

I am impressed with the lens. The lens takes very sharp pictures and focuses very well. My Nikon D7000 allowed me to peak the auto focus sharpness for this specific lens to allow it to function at its peak.

  • Perfect travel kit.

Using a lens adapter the lens works perfectly with my Olympus OM- d em-10. Going to London in June and I now have the perfect kit to photograph street and landscape scenes.

  • Nice medium range all around lens

Its not an excellent lens but it is not bad either. Pictures are sharp but autofocus tends to hunt a bit especially when using ambient indoor light. Its lightweight which makes it ideal as a good carry around lens withour straining your neck. Much better than the Pentax kit lens considering the longer focal lenght. Definitely takes better pictures than the Tamron 18-200mm.
