I had an Eagle fishfinder that began to go bad and finally gave up the ghost entirely. When I began to shop for a replacement, I knew which features I used the most and which ones I seldom if ever used. I wanted a unit that could be easily switched to manual easily. The fish I.D. feature on these cheaper units is seldom accurate and the first thing my fishing guide told me was to turn the fish I.D. off and learn to read the sonar signal "curve". I wanted a display that could be read easily in bright sunlight and I wanted a water temperature reading. There are units costing hundreds of dollars more than the X-4, but Lowrance has a good reputation among marine radars and sonars. I've had this unit for a month, used it 8 times (retired and fish at the lake twice a week). It delivers everything it advertised and I installed it in 3 hours. For the money, it is the best unit available.Read full review
Bought this one cause I had TINY boat that I intended to use on an "electric motor only" lake.. Wanted to see WHERE the fish were that I could not intice to bite.. The little boat is well equipped now.. (I am very proud of it - even though I have NOT put it in the water yet). Buying stuff on e-bay lets me (mentally) do things that I (physically) am unable to find time to do.. SECOND best thing to FISHING, is to buy fishing GEAR, and "think" about using it.. NOT, unlike buying a lottery ticket. FYI... I have 25 "high end" fishing rigs, and have been fishing TWICE in past 4 months.. caught 2 or 3 catfish each time.. Oh well, I just LOVE it..
My until would not turn on. I had power to the unit Replaced mine with this replacement and I'm back in business Excellent quality and shipped fast

The depth finder works great. I don't know about its ability to mark fish. I caught fish when it didn't show any & didn't catch them sometimes when I thought they were being marked. I have the portable unit which is quite a bit more $ than the regular one. The batteries lasted the whole week with the finder being turned on probably 5- 6 hours a day. It doesn't show depths at high speed . The only real complaint is the deign of the battery case & connectors on the wires - pretty flimsy
I really enjoy using my Lowrance fish finder. It is high quality and easy to use. It is very readable even in bright sun. If your looking for a small fish finder I highly recommend it.
